Touch&Play Community Agreements and Conditions of Participation

By participating in a Touch&Play event you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to the following guidelines around how we are asking you to show up and what your rights and responsibilities are before, during and after the event.

Touch&Play tries to co-create secure learning environments for all our participants and we acknowledge that we don’t always reach this ideal. As intensive events working with the body, intellect, emotions and sexuality they require listening and communications skills that many people in our societies have not acquired and we recognize that some people may find aspects of the program challenging or movingand that they might (unintentionally) step over their own or other people's boundaries. We emphasise the importance of consideration and responsibility for yourself at all times, physically, mentally and emotionally. This includes adequate self-assessment as to your readiness for such an event.

To create a respectful and caring atmosphere during our gatherings, everyone is asked to assure their own health, safety and happiness and also to assess and promote the security and joy of others and the group. It is our aim that as a collective everyone at the event is able to live and share a full and rewarding experience and this can be realised when those that have the experience and capacity to support those with less knowledge or abilities do so effectively.

As organisers we do not take responsibility for the actions or non-actions of participants. We have implemented a series of structures to support the overall security and well being as we feel a shared accountability around people’s experiences and focus our energy in supporting people to find their sovereignty and resilience rather than attempting to act as a guarantor of safety. We also actively welcome in the discomfort that might arise in people as they navigate their boundaries and desires as fertile ground for personal and collective growth

We ask participants to specifically agree to the following items to support the collective holding of our containers:

Consent

• Respect and actively employ the Touch&Play de-CIDE Consent framework and/or explicitly agree with the other(s) you are interacting with how consent will work during your interaction(s).  
• Report any consent violation or conflict you experience or witness to a Peace Council Representative
• To abstain from psychoactive/mind altering substances (particularly recreational drugs, including alcohol) and where this has not been done to communicate transparently about this to anyone you wish to dance, play or otherwise interact with in an intentional way to support fully informed consent.
• To communicate clearly about known sexually transmitted infection risks in case you choose to engage in any sexual activities and practise safer sex by agreeing on mutually acceptable safer sex practices given those risks with partners.
• Respect the decisions and directions given by the Peace Council Representative and  / or Core Team members concerning conflicts and consent violations

Care

• Come with the full intention and a fair commitment to leave all of your connections more beautiful than you found them.
• Actively seek the support you need to integrate intense personal experiences you are likely to experience at Touch&Play. This may look like:

• Identifying friends and community members and establishing support systems before, during and after the event.
• Reaching out to Soothe & Care Team volunteers or staff
• Reaching out to T&P facilitators and teachers during (if appropriate) or outside of their classes, particularly around content related to their classes
• Working with yourself and your personal resources and processes to understand what kind of support you need before, during and after the event

• When speaking about others in our tribe that are not present, to respect the Loving Gossip principles as outlined in the de-CIDE consent framework.

Privacy

• To moderate your photography and video recording and only record images of the surroundings, yourself and those that have given you explicit permission to be included.
• To not share names or other identifiable details of participants present at the event.
  

Conditions of Participation

The Touch&Play organises many different gatherings and we attempt to be as including and giving as possible. When you register, we cannot, however, guarantee a space in each desired workshop or activity. Not all workshops are appropriate for all participants. Teachers and organisers retain the right to make decisions as to how many and which participants may join each activity at any given event.

Touch&Play Organisers reserve the right to exclude participants from taking part in all or part of an event according to their best judgement to serve the gathering, organisation and community. Nor refunds will be given and no claims for damages will be accepted under such circumstances.
