Welcome to the Town of Solon!

Solon is located right in the heart of Cortland County, approximately 4 miles east of the City of Cortland. The town covers 29.7 square miles of picturesque hills and valleys with State Route 41, Trout Brook and Cheningo Creek running through it.  Solon is predominantly a residential and agricultural community. Over 2500 acres of State Forest lands fall within the town offering an abundance of recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.

Tax Collection for 2025

• January Hours: Mondays 5 pm - 7 pm and  Fridays 10 am - Noon.
• After January 31st Hours are Mondays 5 pm - 7 pm or by appointment only.  Appointments are limited and by email only at solonclerk@verizon.net.

What Pet Owners Need to Know About Rabies Vaccinations in New York State

• The Town of Solon Comprehensive Plan,  adopted on May 13, 2024, is included on the Planning and Zoning Page and can also be viewed here.

New County Recycling Guidelines - Thank you for recycling!

• The County has updated Recycling Guidelines. Now plastic items that contain the “chasing arrow” symbol with the numbers 1, 2, or 5 should be recycled. The new flier can be viewed here.

Solon Town Board Schedule

• The Solon Town Board meets 7 pm on the 3rd Monday of every month unless the 3rd Monday is a holiday, then the meeting will be on Tuesday at 7 pm.

Solon Town Clerk Hours and Holiday Schedule

Open every Monday 5-6:45 pm.  Additional Hours for Tax Collection in 2024:  8- 10 am on Sun Jan. 21, Sun Jan. 28, Sat Mar 9, and Sun Apr 28.
