Life Point: God is the Creator, and He made the world from nothing.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, in today’s session your child studied the very beginning of the world. God created the whole world from nothing! God is the Creator of all that is and lives. No one is like our God!

Live It Out:

Is your child artistic? Does he like to do arts and crafts, music, or writing? Talk about some of the things he likes to make and how he makes them. What materials does he use? Emphasize that God created the world from nothing! No one is like our God, the Creator.

Unit 1, Session 2: God's Plan for People Genesis 2:4-24

Life Point: God wants people to have a relationship with Him.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, in today’s Bible story your child learned about God’s plan for people. God made people different from every other part of creation. God created us to have a relationship with Him.

Live It Out:

Is your child growing a relationship with God? Remind her that God made her to be in a relationship with Him. Remind your child that reading her Bible and praying are ways to help develop a strong connection with God.

Unit 1, Session 3: Adam and Eve Sinned Genesis 3

Unit Verse: Genesis 1:1

Life Point: God loves people, even when they sin.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, your child heard that Adam and Eve sinned and changed God’s creation. Even though their choice resulted in punishment, God still loved them. Every day you and your family make choices, and sometimes you and your family make wrong choices. Remember that God’s love never changes and never ends.

Live It Out:

Review the Bible story with your child. If your child is younger, you may need to help him understand that sin is not doing what God says. All kids can understand wrong and right choices. Remind your child that wrong choices always have consequences, but God still loves him.

Life Point: People should value others as God does.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of Cain and Abel. Cain allowed jealousy and anger to overcome the value he should have felt for his brother. Do you value your family as God does?

Live It Out:

Do you deal with sibling rivalry in your family? Do all your children get along? Some discord is expected when different personalities live in the same family. Review the story of Cain and Abel with your child. Talk about what Cain could have done to change his actions.

Unit 1, Session 5: Noah Worked Hard   Genesis 6:9–8:22

Life Point: People can praise God for His creation.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, your child heard the story of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, and God protected him, his family, and a boat full of animals. Noah’s response to God was one of obedience and worship. Immediately, after Noah left the ark, he built an altar to praise and worship God. How does your family worship and praise God?

Live It Out:

What is your child’s favorite part of creation? Help her make a list. Challenge her to praise God for one part of creation every day. Help her memorize the Weekly Bible Verse, Psalm 104:24. Learn the verse together as a family and base a family worship time around the verse.

  Sunday: October 7th

Unit 2, Session 1: Jacob and Esau   Genesis 25:17-34; 27:1-45; 32:1-3; 33

Life Point: God wants family members to forgive one another.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of Jacob and Esau. Jacob and Esau had a disagreement so serious Jacob had to run away. Later, they reunited and experienced forgiveness. How do your children show love for one another?

Live It Out:

Review the Bible story with your child. Help him understand that Esau loved Jacob by showing forgiveness and welcoming him home. Explain that God expects Christians to forgive others, no matter what wrong was done. Explore ways your child can accomplish the goal of forgiveness.

Unit 2, Session 2: Miriam and Moses    Exodus 1:8–2:10

Life Point: God plans for children to obey their parents.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, in today’s Bible story your child heard how Miriam took care of her brother Moses. Miriam cared for her brother and showed respect and honor for her mother.

Live It Out:

Obedience can be a hard command for some children to follow. Help your child memorize the Weekly Bible Verse, Colossians 3:20. Emphasize that this command is one that contains a blessing. Pray with your child each day for her obedience to parents.

Unit 2, Session 3: Moses Spoke About Families   Deuteronomy 4–6

Life Point: God wants families to worship Him together.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, your child heard how Moses told parents to teach their children about God. Moses urged families to teach their children about God’s love and His commands. Parents are the best teachers in helping children develop an attitude of worship.

Live It Out:

Help your child develop an attitude for worship. Explain that worship is more than a gathering where people praise God. Worship is living a life dedicated to doing what God wants and commands. Read together the Weekly Bible Verse, Deuteronomy 6:5. Discuss how this verse relates to worship.

 The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child learned about Ruth, Boaz, and Obed. Because Ruth showed love and respect for Naomi, God provided a new family for Ruth and Naomi. How does your family show love and respect for one another?

Live It Out:

Review the Bible story and say the Weekly Bible Verse, Romans 12:10, with your child. Talk about ways Ruth showed love and respect for her family. Help your child think of ways different people in your family show love for one another. Challenge your child to perform a loving action in secret for one person in your family.

Unit 3, Session 1: Solomon and the Temple    1 Kings 8

Life Point: The church is a group of Christians worshiping together.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of Solomon dedicating the temple. The people now had a place to worship God together. Today your family can choose a place to worship God that is called “church.”

Live It Out:

The story of Solomon dedicating the temple shows a standard for what happens at church. Help your child understand that the church is the people who worship together. Think about some churches in your community that meet in different kinds of buildings. Pray with your child for these believers.

Unit 3, Session 2: Joash and the People Gave Offerings     2 Chronicles 24:1-14

Life Point: People can offer God their money, time, talents, and possessions.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today’s Bible story was about giving. Joash collected an offering from the people to repair the temple. Today Christians give money, time, and talents as offerings to God.

Live It Out:

Help your child learn about giving at church. If he gets an allowance, encourage him to put aside part of the money to give to church. Also, encourage him to use his talents and time to contribute to the work of the church. Help him plan an activity that will support the work of your church.

Unit 3, Session 3: Hezekiah and the People Worshiped      2 Chronicles 29

Life Point: God wants people to gather and worship Him.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of Hezekiah. The new king reopened the temple and began worship there again. Today Christians gather together as the church to corporately worship God.

Live It Out:

Discuss with your child ways to show love to God. Go beyond the usual ways of praying, singing, and giving. Help your child make a list of ways. Each week choose one of the ways on the list and, as a family, carry out the idea.

Unit 3, Session 4: The People Sang    Ezra 2:1,68-70; 3:1-13

Life Point: People can worship God through singing to Him.

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story about the rebuilding of the foundation of the temple and the people’s response. The people responded with joyful singing and praise to God! Today your family can sing to worship God.

Live It Out:

Tell your child to make a list of her favorite praise songs. These could be songs you sing at church or songs she hears on the radio. Incorporate these songs in a family worship time.
