The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child studied the creation of the world. God spoke every created thing into existence, except people. God formed the first man and woman with His own hands and breathed life into them. We are truly made in God's image!

 

Live It Out:

Help your child praise God for His creation. Read together Psalm 104, David’s psalm of praise to God for His creation. Help your child write his own praise for God’s creation.

Unit 1, Session 2: God's Plan for People

Life Point: God wants people to take care of His world.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child learned about God’s plan for people. God created people for a purpose. One of God’s plans is for people to care for His world. Does your child know that God loves us enough to plan for our lives?

 

Live It Out:

Remind your child that God gave Adam and Eve work to do—to care for the garden. Kids can help care for God’s world by recycling, picking up trash, caring for pets, and so for. Think of other ways to help take care of your community.

Life Point: God loves and cares for families in all situations.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of Noah. God cared for Noah and his family along with all the animals on the ark. God not only protected them from the flood, but He provided what they needed to survive. How does God care for your family?

 

Live It Out:

Help your child think about the ways God cared for Noah and his family on the ark. Then talk about ways God helps your family. Think of different situations in which you knew God helped. Compose a prayer of thanks for God’s help.

Parents, today your child heard the story of Abram and Lot. These family members had a problem to solve, and they solved it by working together. Thank God for the ability to think and solve problems.

 

Live It Out:

Help your child deal with problems with other family members. Discuss the problem and help your child think of solutions. Encourage your child by reminding her that God made her able to think and solve problems.

Sunday: October 1st

Unit 2, Session 1: King Saul

1 Samuel 9–10; 11:12-15; 13:1-15; 15

Life Point: God holds people responsible for their choices.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child learned about King Saul, the first king of Israel. Saul was a man plagued by bad choices, which had serious consequences. Is your child learning about the consequences of his choices? God holds people responsible for the choices they make.

 

Live It Out:

Do you hold your child responsible for his choices? Learning about consequences helps kids understand that God holds people responsible for their choices. Even though God forgives sins, people must live with the consequences of their sins.

Unit 2, Session 2: God's Plan for David

Life Point: God has a plan for each person.

Parents, today your child heard about God’s plan for David. God’s plan was for David to become king. God has plans for your family, too. One plan God has is for families to love and worship Him. How does your family honor God’s plan?

 

 

Live It Out:

Encourage your child by telling her that God has a plan for each person’s life. God’s plan for every person is to trust Jesus as Savior. _____________________________________________________________________

Unit 2, Session 3: David and Goliath

1 Samuel 17:1-50

Life Point: People can use their talents and abilities to please and honor God.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of David and Goliath. David defeated Goliath with God’s help. He had special abilities for protecting sheep and he used these to honor God by defeating the enemy of God’s people. Does your child use her talents to honor God?

 

Live It Out:

Remind your child that he can honor God by doing his best. Talk about this week’s Bible verse, Psalm 100:2. Explain that God wants our joyful service.

Parents, today your child studied the Bible story about the friendship of David and Jonathan. These two friends truly loved one another, reflecting God’s love for people. Their friendship survived even through hardships. Does your family know God loves them no matter what happens?

 

Live It Out:

Does your child understand the constancy of God’s love? Talk with your child about times your family has suffered a hardship. Help her think of ways you could sense God’s love throughout the ordeal.

Parents, today your child learned about King David. During his lifetime, David tried to live in ways that honored God, but David did not always succeed. God still loved David. Help your child understand that God desires our obedience and wants us to live in ways that honor Him.

 

Live It Out:

Help your child think of things he could do to live in a way that honors God every day. Help him understand that being obedient to God, doing what is right, and rejecting what is wrong is how we honor God.

Unit 3, Session 1: God Cared for Elijah

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard the story of God’s care for Elijah through a poor widow. God provided enough food for Elijah, the widow, and her son. God cares for all people. How does God care for your family?

 

Live It Out:

Talk about ways God cares for your family and write them down on paper. After each statement write the words of Psalm 86:15 to create a litany. Read the litany during a family worship time.

Unit 3, Session 2: God Protected Elijah

1 Kings 19:1-8

Life Point: God has the power to protect people.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today our Bible story told how God protected Elijah. Because he was under a threat of death from Jezebel, Elijah was afraid. God kept Elijah safe and fed. God gave Elijah comfort and assurance of His presence. How does your family feel God’s protection today?

 

Live It Out:

Help your child think of times she is afraid. Talk about what she can do when she is afraid—say a prayer or recite a Bible verse. Help her memorize Psalm 46:1. This verse will assure her that God has the power to protect her.

Unit 3, Session 3: Elisha and the Widow

Life Point: God wants people to obey Him.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard a story about Elisha. A woman asked Elisha for help because she was about to lose her sons to her creditors. Elisha told her what to do, and God provided for the woman’s needs through her obedience. How does your family obey God?

 

Live It Out:

Why should we obey God? Talk with your child about how he would answer this question. Help your child compose a prayer, asking God to help him be obedient.

Unit 3, Session 4: A Couple Helped Elisha

2 Kings 4:8-37

Life Point: God shows His love to all people.

 

The Bible Meets Life:

Parents, today your child heard another story about Elisha. A kind woman helped Elisha by providing him a place to stay. Later, Elisha helped the woman. Each person in this story showed God’s love for the other. How does your family show that God loves all people?

 

Live It Out:

Help your child know that God loves all people. Remind her that Jesus died for everyone. Encourage your child to pray for people in other countries to know Jesus.
