Thank you for registering for the 1st Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games Parkour Competition hosted by Origins Family Fitness!

The competition will be held on Saturday, June 18th. The location is at Origins Family Fitness at 593 N 1450 W, Cedar City, UT. The 10-15 year old age division will begin at 10am, and the 16+ age division will begin at 2pm. The competition will be split into three different events. Speed, skills, and freestyle.

Speed Competition:

The speed competition requires athletes to get from point A, to point B, then to point C in the fastest time possible. No additional points will be awarded for style, execution, etc.

Skill Competition:

The skill competition is a set of challenges that are not known to competitors. They will not have a chance to practice the skills and they will be revealed to them just before the competition. Each competitor has a time limit to complete as many challenges as possible. Each challenge will have a specific set of rules. For example if the challenge is to stride from a box to a bar and then do a precision to a wall, the competitors are not allowed to grab on to any other bars or walls for stabilization. Athletes can get a maximum of two points per challenge. One for completing the challenge correctly, and an additional point can be gained by doing it cleanly. (ie no wobble, stumble, delay, etc). An athlete can skip challenges and have an unlimited number of attempts at an obstacle within the time limit. If they complete a challenge but want to try again to gain the additional point, they have that option.

Freestyle Competition:

Athletes have a limited amount of time to plan, and complete their own creative line using whatever obstacles and equipment is available. They are judged according to the following criteria:

Difficulty

The difficulty will be judged based factors such as height, speed, complexity, etc of the moves in the line.

Creativity

In this competition, creativity is referencing the ability to use the obstacles, environment, and body in a unique way.

Versatility

Did the athlete use a variety of movements and obstacles? Athletes that can perform a wide variety of tricks and movements, on a wide variety of obstacles will score higher on this section.

Flow

Flow will be scored based on moving fluidly from one movement to another without pause, hesitation, studder, etc.

Execution

This is based on the overall technical execution of tricks based on safety, clean landings and jumps, etc. Any stumbling, or other signs of losing control will result in a lower score.

NOTE: Each Event will be scored individually. 1St, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be awarded for each event and athletes are not required to participate in every event in order to place in one event but they will not be eligible for overall placement.

RULES:

1. Safety is of high importance in this competition. If you choose to attempt more difficult flips and tricks, please only do so if you have put in the appropriate amount of training to do it safely. If the judges and/or staff members at Origins Family Fitness or other event officials feel that any athlete is being reckless, the athlete may be removed from the event with no points awarded.

2. Parkour thrives in a community of supportive athletes. Please honor the spirit of parkour and be kind, supportive, and encouraging of other competitors. Bullying, heckling, or any unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.

3. Please wear clean shoes. The last thing athletes need is mud, dirt and other debris on obstacles as they are trying to compete. We highly suggest wearing street shoes to the event and then changing into a very clean pair of shoes for the competition

4. Origins Family Fitness does not allow food or drink other than water in the gym area. If you want to consume food or beverages other than water, it needs to be done outside of the gym. This includes gum.

5. Spectators are welcome but they must stay out of the course at all times.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer to help in any way! See you in June!
