Seeing Yourself Strong in Labor
Use the Map for Seeing Yourself Strong in Labor to do this process on your own. The focus can be about birth or mentoring.
Reflect on what you notice in yourself while doing this art process.
• Was there a moment you hesitated?
• What stopped you?
• What did you do then?
• How did you know to do that?
• Do any of your images of being "strong" surprise you?
• What has shifted in the way you think of "being strong in labor (or mentoring)"?
• What’s one small thing you could start doing today to remember and foster that kind of strength?
As a transition into using this process with parents, spend time working with the questions above and/or your own questions. What did you learn from “seeing” yourself through your drawing?
Next, practice leading this process with a friend.
Bring your successes and challenges to the online forum as you continue to practice and build your confidence.
Then set up a time to do this process with a pregnant person. Take time to reflect on your session.
