WTM 2019 - SEPTEMBER UPDATE

September is upon us and we’re ready to SWINGGG into WTM madness… pun definitely intended. So get ready for a whole-lotta updates and get comfortable, because in less than 75 days, you’ll be as far from comfortable as parking has been at this year’s Toughest events*… heyo. Let’s get at it.

*Toughest South, West, & Australia will be better; we pinky promise

    2019 WTM RULES

First off, the Official 2019 WTM Rules are out. Pay close attention to the updates regarding Achievement Awards, Team Relay, and Medical Rules.

Achievement Awards - We’ve added updates on Obstacle Bypass, Golden Carabiner, and will look to have a surprise or two as we get closer to the event.

Team Relay - Have no fear, we’ve updated Team Relay to mirror 2019 Toughest format so you and your team can continue on this journey together… huzzah.

Medical - Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your feedback on this point. We’ve reviewed and determined the 30 minutes of medical attention leading to a medical DQ isn’t fair to those athletes that are safely able to continue in the race. We’ve amended our rules to reflect that injuries will be reviewed on a case by case basis and eligibility to continue in the race will be determined by Senior Medical Officials. The decision of the Senior Medical Official on-site is final and not subject to appeal. Please stay tuned for more updates on specific injuries our Medical Officials will not allow once reported.

Study the rules, love the rules, obey the rules.

Now, onto the fun stuff…

    CONTENDER/LEGACY STATUS & TEAM RELAY

To achieve Contender Status in 2019, athletes need to have achieved one of the following:

If an athlete does not meet the above criteria, they may apply for Contender status here.  Only verified high-level athletes or some TRULY inspirational stories will be considered here. Applications must be in by October 18th, 2019 and we will be very selective on who we let in to this club. Bribes in the form of sandwiches may help your chances...

Legacy Status is our new category meant to honor our WTM community who have stuck with us through thick and thin mud, freezing nights in Jersey, and sandstorms in Vegas. Athletes who have completed 5 or more WTM’s prior to 2019, will receive their Legacy Bib at registration. Those who are on track to hit 5 upon completion of WTM 2019, will receive their Legacy Bib at the Champion’s Brunch on Monday post event. Legacy status can be found here. If your name is not on this list, but you believe you’ve achieved Legacy status or are on track, please contact racedirector@toughmudder.com with the list of the events you’ve attended for verification by October 18th, 2019.

Team Relays will be comprised of either 2 or 4 people and must register and receive approval from the TMHQ Race Director prior to the event. Team Relay competitors can register here and must do so by October 18th, 2019. Full details on Team Relay eligibility can be found in the WTM Rules.
