Micro Home Project Plan Phase 1

5yr plan: 320 families by building 320 homes a community center, 2 playgrounds, 2 walking trails

Currently we have the designs and partners to begin the project and we are working on our first of two large land acquisitions.

Year 1

Public Awareness: Work with local papers, radio, social media avenues and the coalition partners to make residents, businesses and local governments aware of what we are doing and how they can help.

Home Building:  With Habitat as the lead, we plan to build the infrastructure and the first 40 homes.

Resident Educational Training and Development: Working with the local school district, Ogden Rotary and higher education facilities we will develop and implement a tutoring program for all students and residents in reading and writing.

Resident Health and Wellness Development: Work with McKay Dee Hospital and Intermountain Healthcare to educate and encourage residents to adopt inexpensive healthy eating, hygiene and home cleanliness habitats.  Develop trainings that can be done quarterly to assist residents and keep the program going after we finish our project.

Resident Employment Training and Development: Ogden-Weber TC and Davis TC, along with Weber State University, will provide job training and educational avenues for the residents and their children.  Ogden Rotary will assist with tutoring programs, as will other coalition members.

Overall Community Development and Improvements: All partners will be working together to assist our new families in getting acclimated to their new homes.  The wonderful thing about these communities is that everyone is surrounded by families that are going through similar struggles, and they can support each other as well as receive assistance from Habitat and our supporters.

Year 2

Public Awareness: Update everyone on our progress, discuss any new issues that need to be addressed after our first year, review and continue to ask for additional financial and volunteer support.

Home Building: With Habitat as the lead, we plan to build the infrastructure for our second plot of land and the next 40 homes.

Resident Educational Training and Development: Continue to fine tune our tutoring program and branch out to other educational developmental entities to focus on keeping students from dropping out of school.

Resident Health and Wellness Development: Evaluate our programs and set up a location in the local community center to assist residents with these issues.  Visit the elderly and disabled to make sure their health and wellbeing is properly addressed.  Assist those that need help.

Resident Employment Training and Development: Ogden-Weber TC and Davis TC, along with Weber State University, will provide job training and educational avenues for the residents and their children.  Ogden Rotary will assist with tutoring programs, as will other  coalition members.

Overall Community Development and Improvements: After our first year review, we will address any concerns from the community, and make sure our homes are meeting their needs.  Set up any additional classes and trainings that might benefit our partner families.

Year 3

Public Awareness: Update everyone on our progress, address any new issues, and continue to ask for additional financial and volunteer support.

Home Building: We will build the final 40 homes in this phase, and prepare for the next batch of homes in Phase 2.

Resident Educational Training and Development: Invite students who have been participated in this group help other children so that this group can transition into a group of residents that support and help each other.  When we complete our project, this support system will remain in place.  Set up a tutoring facility at the local community center.

Resident Health and Wellness Development: Develop the program to be self-sufficient and supported by local businesses and residents, and turn this into an internal and continuing community response.

Resident Employment Training and Development: Ogden-Weber TC and Davis TC, along with Weber State University, will provide job training and educational avenues for the residents and their children.  Ogden Rotary will assist with tutoring programs, as will other coalition groups.

Overall Community Development and Improvements: All coalition groups will work on parks, playgrounds, community center and other public places.

Our project continues for a total of 5 years so we will continue the process as outlined above until we complete the construction of all of the homes for our partner families. We will follow up to see what is working and what we might need to continue after the end of our initial timeframe.
