Student Staff Job Description:

The position is designed to support the mission of CAPS/RISE in expanding needs related to supporting student well-being and promoting good mental health. The position will serve to support, develop, and help maintain in-person and virtual spaces for students in need of healthy coping, with a dedicated effort toward student engagement (such as program development, social media/remote interactions, and program promotions and outreach). The student worker will also provide administrative and technical support for the department's staff needs, including focused work on enhancing student connections and social well-being through the marketing of CAPS and RISE outreach and educational events.

General Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a diverse group of students, faculty, administrators, individually, in group settings, and in virtual settings. In all interactions, demonstrates professionalism, diplomacy, courtesy, empathy and sensitivity to the emotional and physical status of others. Has skills in working independently, thinking critically, and following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision. Has abilities to handle sensitive information appropriately. Has good communication skills (verbal, written) to convey accurate information to individuals at all levels of the organization. Has organizational skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines when faced with competing requirements and frequent interruptions.

Feels confident in the self and is willing to ask questions when met with uncertainty or when needing clarification. Treats others with respect and dignity.

Requirements:

All student staff must submit a schedule of quarterly availability, including classes, clubs, part- time work, and other scheduled activities. Irregular shift schedules are discouraged. Requests for shift changes or cancellations must occur at least 24 hours prior unless under rare, extenuating circumstances. All student staff must review and verbally agree to the Student Staff Competencies guide with their supervisor.
