A Letter from your Syndicate Leaders
Kia Ora,
We know you may be feeling mixed emotions about our children returning back to school. The staff are working hard to ensure the classrooms are safe and ready for the students to return this coming Monday. The staff are very excited about starting back and look forward to seeing the children again.
We are closely following the guidelines from the Ministries of Health and Education.
Here are the Main Points of Alert Level 2 at MNS
Further details can be found in this link to our school-wide plan including information on contact tracing.
- Any children who are sick need to stay at home and not attend school.
- We will be sending anyone home if they show any signs of being unwell. Symptoms include:
- A cough
- A high temperature
- Shortness of breath
- Sore throat
- Sneezing and a runny nose
- Children are welcome to arrive on-site from 8:30 am
- Where possible we ask that you drop your child at one of the three entrances to limit the number of additional adults on site
- If you do need to come onto school grounds we ask that parents do not enter the classrooms and record their visit using the school app.
- Children need to go straight to their classroom where they will be greeted by their class teacher
- On Monday the children will need to remain in their classroom until the bell rings for the start of school
- To ease congestion at the end of the day all children will be on the veranda outside their classrooms (weather permitting). Children may be collected from 2:45pm
- The remaining children will leave school as normal at 3:00pm
- We ask that all families leave the school grounds after collecting their children, please do not stay and play on the school grounds
Classrooms
- Desks will be separated and classes using carpet areas will mark these to ensure spacing
- All classrooms have been thoroughly cleaned
- All desks, surfaces and handles will be cleaned at intervals throughout the day
- Each time they enter the classroom children will sanitise their hands
- Before eating and outdoor break times children will wash their hands with soap and water
- Children will be reminded about the protocols of sneezing and coughing into their elbows and keeping out of other people’s ‘breath space’
Resources
- All children need to bring a water bottle (these can be refilled during the day in the classrooms).
- Children will not be sharing stationery
- Please do not bring sports equipment to school, each class will have a small set of resources that the children can use
- Children are still allowed to bring scooters and bikes to school and store them in the racks on the courts.
