Governor issues Executive Order 202.26, which modified various sections of Education Law with respect to school district budget votes and board elections.

May 6, 2020

Board adopts 2020-21 Budget and Real Property Tax Card.

May 7, 2020

Property Tax Report Card submitted to SED, day after it is approved, but no later than May 22.

May 8, 2020

Submit legal notice to newspaper for print by May 12.

May 11, 2020

Deadline for candidates to file nomination with District Clerk – 5 p.m.

May 12, 2020

First of two publications must appear not later than 28 days before election. Notice shall include information on an adjourned budget hearing that shall take place remotely.

Must determine names of all candidates and the propositions to be on the ballot three days prior to the distribution of military ballots.

May 15, 2020

Last day to transmit military ballots.

May 19, 2020

Second legal notice appears.

May 20 – June 9, 2020

Copies of the budget must be made available to the residents upon request. The budget and attachments are required to be posted to the district website. (14 days prior to and including the day of the Vote and 7 days

 prior to the Budget Hearing.)

May 21, 2020

Mail absentee ballots to all registered voters in the District with a postage paid return envelope.

Mailing must also include a “postcard notice” identifying the date of the election,

the date of the adjourned budget hearing and the definition of a qualified voter. (If ballots are not received from the printer in time for mailing, the “postcard notice” will have to be sent separately to ensure it is received prior to the May 27th public hearing.)

May 27, 2020

Adjourned Virtual Budget Hearing via Zoom – 6 pm. (Must occur between May 26 and June 2)

May 27 - June 3, 2020

Budget Newsletter (including Budget Notice) mailed to District Residents.

(Budget notice must be mailed after the budget hearing but no later than six days prior to the vote.)

June 9, 2020 – 5 pm

Statewide budget vote and board election day – All absentee ballots must be received by 5 pm.

June 16, 2020

Statewide budget revote day. (Unclear)

July 1, 2020

Implement 2020-21 Budget.
