Please be aware that you must make the request the DAY BEFORE otherwise it unfortunately will not be honored.

All requests for written announcements should be sent by email to Lisa.cannizzaro@wcsdny.org Please send the announcement the day before it needs to be added to the daily announcements.

The following colleges will be visiting John Jay on Wednesday, 10/4:

SUNY College at Oswego - period 2 (8:30 am)

Sacred Heart University - period 3 (9:15 am)

St. Bonaventure University - period 4 (10 am)

Worcester Polytechnic Institute- period 8 (1:30 pm)

You must pre-register in SCOIR if you would like to attend any of these visits.  All visits will be held in the Maker Space.

The following college will be visiting John Jay on Friday, 10/6:     

Binghamton University - period 5 (11 am)

You must pre-register in SCOIR if you would like to attend this visit.  This visit will be held in the LGI.  

ATTENTION STUDENTS AND PARENTS:

The PSAT will be administered at John Jay High School on Saturday, October 14th.

We recommend that all college bound juniors take this exam.

Students can register Monday, September 25th - Friday, October 6th on Family ID. https://account.familyid.com

The cost is $18.00 per student.

Students taking this test should arrive at school at 7:30am on test day.  

ID is required to enter testing rooms.  

Students must bring a fully charged WCSD issued Chromebook.

Attention ALL SENIORS who did not attend CAPE

CAPE is a MANDATORY program for 12th grade students who are applying for school parking permits, and for the parents/guardians who play such a crucial role in their teen’s safe driving.

If you were unable to attend the 2023 spring sessions, you have the opportunity to attend one of the fall make-up sessions. Calling all LightKeepers! We have our weekly meeting today, October 2nd in Room 243 with yet more food, videos giving an overview of Bible and Prayers with friends. Come join the LightKeepers in Room 243, invite your friends to join!

John Jay’s GSA will be meeting every other Tuesday in room 247 starting Tuesday next week on the third of October.

INTERACT: Anyone interested in joining Interact, the school's community service club, should join our Google Classroom.  The class code is mvop6lt. Interact club meets every Tuesday after school in the LGI (Rm 128)

The Italian Honors Society will be having their first meeting tomorrow, October 3rd,  in the cafeteria right after school, hope to see you there!"

John Jay's Girl Up Club

Come to Girl Up's first meeting of the year!! It will be Wednesday October 4th, at 2:20 in room 220. There will be snacks and we will be discussing important information for this year! All are welcome, we hope to see you there!

SADD Club:  Are you interested in mental health, traffic safety, and substance abuse prevention? SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will be having meetings  on Wednesday’s after school! Come and join us to learn more about SADD and all that we do at John Jay!

The Amnesty International Club will be hosting a 5K on October 15th on the Dutchess Rail Trail. Register at this link! We will also be meeting this Thursday, September 21st in room 189. Join us if you're passionate about human rights and activism.

Black Student Union: will be meeting on Thursday, October 5th at 2:30 in room 128 (LGI). Be on time!

JJHS Robotics Teams meet on Fridays after school in Room 171 B.  New members are welcome.

SPORTS:

Athletes of the Week 9/25/23 - 10/1/23

Lyla Dwyer, Tennis - Lyla dominated her opponent from Carmel with a shutout, 8-0.

Kaleigh Horos, Soccer - (jr) The John Jay Girls varsity soccer team beat RCK this week 2-1. Kaleigh scored the game winning goal with 6 minutes to go and anchored a great defensive effort.

Ian Murray, Soccer - Senior Defender. Ian filled in at Center Back for us against RCK helping the Boys Soccer Team to a league victory against Ketcham.  Even though playing in the back, Ian still scored a goal off of a corner kick.

Sophia Prianti, Field Hockey - Senior forward. Sophia has stepped up her game as of late and has scored three goals in two games.  She put us ahead and kept us there as we won two very important league games.  She has been a key component in our offensive this season.  

Lily Pugliese, Volleyball - (junior) led our team offense by hitting .367 this week with 25 kills in 49 attempts in three matches this week.

Evan Rossi, Football - Evan ran for 178 yds in leading the Patriots to a 35-19 win over Yonkers Force

Silvia Bilenky, Maura Nestler, Emma Henson and Nella Morgan, Swim 200 Medley Relay.  They improved their time yesterday at our swim meet against Nyack.   Our team was victorious yesterday with a final score of 100 to 68.

JOHN JAY GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS will be hosting senior night THURSDAY, October 4th for our two seniors this year! Anaya Pandya (Team Captain) and senior Yanna Vytykac! Please come out and support the girls at Taconic Sport and Racquet this Thursday at 4:30!

JJ WRESTLING Open Mats:  Anyone interested in Wrestling this year please feel free to attend OPEN mats in the JJ wrestling room.
