How should we deal with sin within the church?

Paul deals with an astonishing sin within the church at Corinth, but the real issue is not just behavior.

 Discovery Questions

Self-reflection:

Read 1 Corinthians 5. What sources of “leaven” am I allowing in my life?

With your family:

The next time you discipline your child, explore with them the deep heart issues that lead to the behavior, not just the behavior. For example, if they take something that doesn’t belong to them, talk about how acquiring things will never make us happy.

With your small group:

  1. Read 1 Corinthians 5.
  2. What stands out to you in these verses? Why?
  3. What bothers you about these verses? Why?
  4. Discuss the self-reflection question above.
  5. How can your small group help one another in this?
  6. Given this passage, what should you do this week?
