Foundation Assessment
Assessment will be both informal with assessment resources drawn from adapted versions of the Viva assessment pack in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
KS3 Year 8 – overview Teaching
KS3 teaching and learning builds on and revists many of the topics from Year7.
Students will move on to the topics of School, Family, Home and Town. They will learn how to express opinions, have short conversations, and give descriptions.

Paper 1: Listening exam: 35 minutes (Foundation Tier), 45 minutes (Higher Tier)

Paper 2: Speaking exam: Understanding and responding to different types of spoken language is the focus of assessment.
7–9 minutes (Foundation Tier) + preparation time
10–12 minutes (Higher Tier) + preparation time
60 marks (for each of Foundation Tier and Higher Tier)
Paper 3: Reading exam: 45 minutes (Foundation Tier), 1 hour (Higher Tier)
