Athletic COVID 19 guidelines- Updated January 27 2021
Carolina Day School Policies:
- Carolina Day has mandated all paid coaching staff to be vaccinated
Indoor Play (gyms/ weight room/ champions room)
- Per Carolina Day School rules, masks will be required to be worn by all players, coaches, staff, and spectators while indoors (regardless of vaccination status). Athletes may be unmasked while participating in active play. **Please note, variations will be seen throughout the season as we compete against schools who may choose what is best for their community. **This policy will be reviewed weekly.
- Carolina Day teams will also be expected to abide by Carolina Day masking regulations while at indoor away contests.
- Opponents will be asked to abide by these rules while in an indoor Carolina Day facility.
- All coaches, athletes and other participants on the team bench sit a minimum of 3 feet from each other in order to maintain social distance.
- Locker rooms and bathrooms are mask-mandatory areas
- Spectators are allowed but must remain masked at all times. **This policy will be reviewed weekly.
Outdoor Play (athletic fields)
- Athletes may be unmasked when involved in active play during games and practices
- All coaches, athletes and other participants on the team bench sit a minimum of 3 feet from each other in order to maintain social distance (regardless of vaccination status). Masks must be worn when less than 3ft apart.
- Spectators are allowed and should sit a minimum of 3 feet apart from those not in their immediate family. Masks are not required, but encouraged.
- Locker rooms and bathrooms are mask-mandatory areas.
- On buses: Masked, windows open, two-to-a-seat
- Athletes must bring their own labeled water bottles to both games and practices
NCISAA Athlete Return-to-Play post-COVID-19 Protocol:
- At a minimum, member schools are required to follow CDC Guidelines which include a return to school after 5 days of isolation if asymptomatic or if symptoms are improving, combined with strict mask-wearing for an additional 5 days.
- In addition, it is strongly recommended that student-athletes follow the NCISAA gradual Return to Play protocol without engaging in competition until day 11 from initial onset of symptoms.
