Last Thursday was a special day for Anchorage Park School. We hosted our very first powhiri to welcome new staff and families to our school. The kapa haka practised everyday for several weeks before the powhiri and they were amazing! Special thanks to Mrs Soutar and Rangi Minhinnick for their work preparing our kapa haka group.
We have a very enthusiastic PTA this year and they did an incredible job organising our successful Family Fun Night last week. Despite a dismal weather forecast, the rain held off for the evening - phew! Many thanks to all the families who came along to meet the teachers, have some fun and support the PTA’s fundraising efforts. Thanks to sponsorship from sKids and the tokens spent on food and activities we raised nearly $1,000 on the night. Please come along to the PTA’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 21 March at 7:15pm if you are interested in being part of this great team of parents and teachers to support our school. Money raised this year will contribute towards the Treemendous Makeover, Reading resources and Year 5-6 Camp.
Some important upcoming dates to note:
School closes at 12:30pm and Learning Conferences with your child’s teacher will be scheduled between 1:20pm and 6:30pm. A notice was sent home last week or you can go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code and enter the code euma3 to book a time.
School closed - Staff Only Day to complete Ministry of Education professional development.

Whole School Assembly
A hectic Term 1 and very hot and humid weather led to our decision to delay whole school assemblies. Please save the date for an end of term assembly on Friday 13 April at 2:20pm (this is the last day of Term 1). There will be two class items and awards presented. More details to come.

Birthday Celebrations!
Sereina (Rm 4) is 8 on Monday 12 March.
Leo (Rm 5) is 8 on Wednesday 21 March.
Unfortunately, due to food allergies and intolerances, children are not able to bring along birthday cakes or any food to celebrate their special day. However, we strongly encourage happy birthday songs and other cool ways to celebrate their birthday at school!
