PARLIAMENTARIAN
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Parliamentarian advises the Chair and provides information on procedural matters.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Parliamentarian is responsible for the following activities:
- Interprets Robert’s Rules of Order (MARAC Bylaws, Article X) and serves as the Chair’s advisor and consultant on procedural matters, but does not advise the Steering Committee or MARAC as a body.
- Calls serious errors in parliamentary procedure to the attention of the Chair.
- Serves as a source of information on parliamentary procedures.
- Attends all regular and special business meetings of MARAC.
- Attends, if so desires, the meetings of the Steering Committee unless such attendance is required such as when serving concurrently as a member of that committee or as an officer of MARAC, or if asked to do so on a specific occasion by the Chair.
TERM OF OFFICE
The Parliamentarian is appointed by the MARAC Chair and serves without term at the pleasure of the Chair.
