Dear Parents,

Welcome back - we hope you enjoyed a restful break. Thank you to all who sent in toiletries for our Giving Project - what a joy it is to give. So many people will be blessed by your generosity.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January 15

No school - all facilities are closed in observance.

End of 2nd Quarter - Friday, January 19

Friday January 19th is the last day of Quarter 2. Report cards will be emailed home the following Wednesday.

Preview Night - Tuesday, January 23 @ 7PM

Mark this date on your calendar. We would love all of our current and alumni parents/families to attend this exciting event as we present our mission, vision and goals for TCS. Awesome things are in the works in Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, and High School.

ACSI Spelling Bee - Saturday, January 27

Congratulations to Natalie Ferrari and Vanessa McCloud, our 7th grade Spelling Bee finalists! They will represent Trinity in the ACSI Regional Spelling Bee to be held on Saturday, January 27th in Vallejo.


Middle School Teachers


Bible (Mr. Ortiz):

We will be learning about the split of Israel into 2 kingdoms. We will also begin the next lesson about the Prophets. The scripture quiz for this week is on 2 Chronicles 36:15-16.

Language Arts (Mrs. Johnson):

In spelling, students will learn vocabulary/spelling List 14. In grammar, we will continue to study verbs - there is a quiz on Friday that covers pages 72 - 77. Students will also begin writing a creative writing piece for the creative writing festival.  In literature, we will begin studying the element of setting.

Math (Mrs. Northman):

We will be working on Investigation 6 and lessons 61-63 this week.

 On Friday, March 9th, selected TCS students in 3rd-8th grade will compete in the annual ACSI Math Olympics in Grass Valley.  The objective of Math Olympics is to create an interest in mathematics, recognize student achievement, provide an opportunity to meet other students that excel in math, and to glorify God with the use of mathematical abilities and talents.  Students will be chosen by their classroom teacher based on 1st/2nd quarter math grades, scores and times on ACSI practice tests, current math test scores, and overall citizenship.  Students will be chosen by Friday, February 2nd.

Math 7/6 (Mrs. Johnson):

Students will complete Lessons 59 and 60 on Monday and Tuesday. Test 11 will be on Wednesday. We will then complete an investigation on Thursday and Lesson 61 on Friday.

Social Studies (Mrs. Daniel):

Students will begin Chapter 10, “Oceania and Australia.”  On Wednesday, students will begin a map activity that includes Australia and the Pacific Islands.  It is due on Friday.

Science: (Mrs.Northman)

We will continue our study of Creationism and the Theory of Evolution this week.  Students will begin a Noah’s Ark project which is due January 29th.

Music: (Dr. Muntean)

Finishing up Ode to Joy and preparing for performance in chapel.
