Funance Position Descriptions

Do you love sharing knowledge? Are you interested in finance? Do you create art? If you answered YES to any of the questions, consider Funance.

Hello potential applicants! Funance is looking for dedicated and passionate high school students to lead future projects and website development. To provide more background, Funance was created in late 2018. It is a collaborative enterprise consisting of three original members, who all attend the same school and are rising seniors (as of the 2018-2019 school year). We have many comics and curriculums in progress, but we feel that the workload is too much. Therefore, we are opening up Funance for those who meet the criteria!

The descriptions of the positions can be found below. These descriptions will include time expectations, recommended prerequisites, and roles and responsibilities. Each position will recommend a small project to show us your skills. After you’ve read what each position entails, please visit:  for the online application.

Open Positions:

  1. Illustration Coordinators (2)
  1. Description: Illustrate and design the comics.
  2. Recommended prerequisites: Access to Photoshop or a similar art program, as well as reliable internet connection. Possesses a drawing tablet. *ONLY digital illustrators.
  3. Time expectations: 2-3 hours per week; weekly deadlines.
  4. Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Working with main artists to finish comics
  2. Editing rough drafts
  3. Delegating tasks to the other artists
  4. Completion of illustrations before deadlines
  1. OPTIONAL Project: Make an educational comic -  about any subject. We request 2-3 pages with at least 3 panels per page. Any art style is fine.

  1. Website and Outreach Coordinators (2)
  1. Description: Publish content, update and design website, and
  2. Time Expectations: Roughly 1-2 hours a week.
  3. Recommended prerequisites: Experienced/willing to learn about creating, managing, and/or designing Wix-based, or similar web-hosting sites.
  4. Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Replies to user inquiries
  2. Manages emails and communications
  3. Frequently updates and posts on site
  4. Improve professionalism of website design
  5. Research possible locations to host summer programs
  1. OPTIONAL Project: Show us an example of a website you have worked on, or create a mockup of a new Funance website. Tell us why you chose the specific elements. You may visit for inspiration. Please submit either a website link or images in JPG or PNG.

  1. Curriculums and Content Coordinators (2)
  1. Description: The backbone of the operation are the content creators. They will create rough scripts and outlines for lessons and comic content.
  2. Time expectations: Weekly deadlines; roughly 2 hours.
  3. Recommended prerequisites: Confident in writing, as well as being fairly knowledgeable on various financial aspects.
  4. Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Create mockups and presentations for lesson plans
  2. Write and research finance-related content
  3. Write and edit scripts for comics
  4. Stay up-to-date with current financial news
  1. OPTIONAL Project: Write a 1-2 page introduction about a personal finance topic of your choice, answering the following questions:
  1. Why is it important?
  2. What are the advantages and disadvantages?
  3. If applicable, what do you have to be wary of?

HINT: After reading your introduction, the audience should have a basic understanding of the personal finance topic! Try to make the introduction interesting and fun to read!
