You've known Minato Aqua ever since you were both in pre-school. The first time you met her, she was staring longingly at the kids messing around at the playground, a look of loneliness was present on her while she hid behind a tree. You were one of the kids in the playground when you spotted the strange girl just staring at you and your friends. A few of your friends were gossiping about how weird she is but you were having none of that. Seeing the girl all alone with no one to talk or interact with brought out some sort of urge within you to protect her. And with that resolve, you approached the shy girl.

The first time you approached her, she literally cowered behind the tree as you neared her. Of course to kids your age, boundaries don’t mean anything and you surely overstepped her personal space, introducing yourself and inviting her to play with an innocent smile on your face. You could still hear the kids behind you gossiping and laughing at you for trying to talk to the ‘weird girl’ but you ignored them! Your mind was set on befriending this strange yet lonely girl. Aqua timidly looked at your outstretched hand before shakily reaching out to take it and silently accepted your offer the moment she realized you weren’t here to make fun of her or bully her.

Ever since that day, Aqua has been by your side through the years, or rather, she refused to leave your side. It’s no exaggeration to say that you were perhaps her only friend for the whole of preschool all the way to high school. With her being around you all the time, you took notice of her various quirks. Aqua was spoiled, to say the least. Both by her mom and to an extent, by you. She was always clumsy and hopeless and there were times where you wanted to give up on the girl. But all those quirks just honestly made her that much more endearing and despite all her flaws, Aqua was a very empathetic person. Whenever you are sad or feeling down in the dumps, Aqua is always there to make you smile.

It really shouldn’t be a surprise to you that Aqua wanted to be an Idol. Or at the very least, an entertainer. She always had a talent for singing and making you laugh like an idiot because of her antics. You were skeptical of course, how could you not be? This girl whom you’ve known for so long can barely even interact with people that were not you or her family, let alone in front of possibly thousands of fans. You didn’t want to crush her dream though so you decided to support her no matter what. Watch over her as she will undoubtedly achieve her dream of being a full fledged idol. Or at least that's what she tells you.

As she grew more and more both as a person and an idol, you can’t help but see her less as a little sister figure and more as a woman. It didn’t help that she also ‘grew’ in various places as well. The fact that she started clinging much more to you and constantly looked to you for advice made you feel that much more important in her life. As if that wasn’t obvious enough already. You could even say she had ignited a flame deep within your heart and each day that she relied on you fanned the flames of love even further.

It was inevitable. The fact that she grew so popular in such a short time would definitely give rise to new fans and haters alike. It didn’t help that her haters were very vocal and for the first time in what seemed like years, Aqua had regressed back to when you were kids. She had to take a break and even though the friends she had made tried to help her, it wasn’t enough. Aqua has been your best friend for the longest time. Even though you were quite confused with your own feelings towards her, not quite sure what it was and not wanting to explore it further out of fear of ruining your friendship with her. It was only right that you cheered her up and raised her spirits. You devised a plan to bring her out of her room. "Inviting her out for karaoke and making a short trip towards her favourite cafe afterwards would make her happier" You thought to yourself. And with that, you proceeded with the plan. Needless to say, it was a success! Not only did Aqua cheer herself up, she also gained more confidence with her voice as you kept on complimenting her each chance you get during the karaoke session. Her face was strangely flushed the whole time during the cafe visit. The girl kept on mumbling about how she wished she wasn’t so cowardly but you couldn’t really understand why she was chanting about not being a coward. Maybe it helped with the confidence boost for streaming?

It was a normal day. Or well it was supposed to be. You heard the news. It was way too sudden. Your parents had been involved in a fatal accident. And in the blink of an eye, you became an orphan. Your whole world had fallen apart in just one night and you felt truly alone. Much like Aqua did months ago, you shut yourself off from the world, refusing help from anyone. Or at least you tried to, until Aqua forced herself back into your life. She had gone through all the trouble to forge a key to your house, almost having the cops get called on her for wearing a cap with glasses and a black mask, looking like a robber trying to break into your home. Hearing about her antics brought a small smile back to your face. The first smile you had ever since your parents had passed away.

Wanting to cheer you up, Aqua offered to cook dinner for you. Not wanting to refuse her kindness, you reluctantly accepted. In a typical ‘baqua’ moment, she had messed up and almost overcooked a simple omurice dish. Apologising with tears in her eyes, she explained her full intention of being here.

“I-I just wanted to cheer you up! You’ve always been there for me and I wanted to repay you for all that you’ve done for me.. Especially now!”

Hearing Aqua speak out her true feelings reignited the spark that you thought had dimmed and gone out when you lost everything that day. It made you realise that you were not alone in this world after all. Aqua will always be there for you, and in turn, you will always be there for her. You’ve also finally recognized the feeling in your chest whenever you laid your eyes on her. Or rather, you’ve always known it. It was love. And with that, you resolved yourself. You were going to tell her how you felt about her. It doesn’t matter what her response is, you would be satisfied with whatever she wanted.

“E-eh? You love me??” Her face was beet red from your confession, you could swear you even saw a few droplets of tears forming in her eyes before she wiped it off. A look of determination was on her face now.

“Actually I have a concert coming up soon! I really want you to attend it as my one and only physical audience! I-I’ll give you my answer to your confession in the form of a song!”

And with that she passed you a ticket to her concert. “Aqua Iro Super☆Dream♪ “. You promised her you will be there. Not just to hear her answer, but to support her as her number one fan!

The weeks leading up to her sololive was nothing short of tough. Well it was tough for Aqua at least. You didn't meet up with her a lot since she was busy attending dance lessons and vocal training but you did try your best to keep her company with calls. To encourage and keep her motivated.

The day of the concert finally came. You and Aqua arrived at the venue together but eventually the both of you had to seperate. It was obvious to you that the poor girl was extremely nervous. You did the first thing that came to your mind, you hugged her. What are you doing? You're not even her boyfriend! "I'm so screwed if she pushes me away now.." However, instead of being uncomfortable or rejecting the hug, Aqua returned it with an even stronger grip.

"Thanks… Thanks for always accepting me for who I am. For always sticking by my side. For always watching out and taking care of this useless girl. I promise! I promise that tonight will be the happiest night of our lives!" And just like that, she released herself from the hug and ran off, presumably to prepare for her live. As for you, you were ushered towards the seats, a special seat with your name on it was present there. True enough, you were her only physical audience, the rest being her thousands of fans watching from certain streaming sites.

The first few minutes was nothing short of mesmerizing. Seeing the girl that you grew up with performing on stage. The culmination of all of her hard work was finally being shown, and you had a front row seat of witnessing it. The first quarter of the live had ended, and apparently Aqua had a new outfit prepared just for this live. And with that announcement, the stage grew dark, the anticipation of wondering what her new outfit looked like had you on the edge of your seat. The lights flickered back on, and the stage changed as well. A small flight of stairs was seen in the middle of the stage and Aqua slowly traversed the stairs, coming into the light. She was beautiful. You couldn’t believe it. The timid girl that had always clung to you like a crutch had finally grown up to be this amazing beautiful woman. Her outfit looked very much like something out of a fairy tale and even looked like a wedding dress. As you were reminiscing about the past, the live had continued on and before you knew it, it had already reached the last segment of the live.

Time had passed so quickly that you didn’t even realize it had almost been 2 hours since the live started. Aqua had just announced that she was going to sing her first ever original song and you could swear for a split second, her eyes had met yours. It was then that you knew, this was going to be it. This was the song that she would be singing to respond to your feelings. ‘Aqua iro palette’ is the name of the song. And with that introduction out of the way, she started singing.

Tears were streaming like salty rivers down your face. You couldn’t believe it. The girl whom you grew up with, the girl who you had supported the whole time and had recently come to understand that you love her dearly had returned your feelings. Her feelings about you couldn’t become any more obvious and clearer from her song. The lyrics itself reflected your entire relationship and history with her. The song had finally ended and the concert was over. The first thing you did was to slowly approach Aqua, the girl stood in the middle of her stage with a radiant glow and a bright smile on her. Aqua herself had started moving towards you, the spotlight shining on the both of you as you hugged her tight, not wanting this moment to ever end.

“Told you this would be the best night of our lives” Aqua uttered behind choked words as she herself was crying tears of absolute joy.

“I love you Aqua. I love you so much” You had been wanting to say those words for a long time, the time had never been more perfect than now.

“I love you too!” Declared the girl who had made an Aqua coloured impact on your life.
