Format: Stableford scoring: Stroke play, high gross & net points with flights based on index. Points: Four-under 6, three-under 5, eagle 4, birdie 3, Par 2, bogey 1, double+ 0.

Pace of play: Target pace is less than 4 hours; acceptable pace is 4:15 or less. All players in the group are subject to a two-stroke penalty for turning in scorecard 16-30 minutes after completion of round, and disqualification for more than 30 minutes after round. Examples:

Rules: Unless otherwise directed, the USGA Rules of Golf govern AGC play (including playing the ball as it lies). If in doubt on a rule, play two balls and bring the issue before the Rules Committee; Rules Committee will confer ASAP (before, during or after round). Local rules: For a list of permanent local rules always in effect in AGC tournaments and temporary local rules that may be enacted the day of a tournament, refer to the LTGC local rules sheet. Click here for USGA overview of Stableford scoring.

Tees: Players shall play from the tees outlined in the AGC tee chart. Tournament committee will determine where tee markers are placed.

Skins: A skin is won by any player who posts the lowest score in relation to par on a hole among all players in the skins game. Winners of individual holes will split the pot. (Example: If there are 5 net skins and the net pot is $100, each player receives $20 cash.) If no individual winners, skins go to any two players tied with the lowest score in relation to par, etc.

Closies:  Closest to the hole competition on all par-3s, paying one spot per hole.

Scoring: Each group must submit hole-by-hole individual gross scores via the Golf Genius app, then turn in a signed and attested official paper scorecard to the scoring area within 15 minutes of completing the round. Failure to submit scores in Golf Genius will be grounds for disqualification. If there is a discrepancy between the electronic scores and the official scorecard and no one from the group is available to clarify, the official scorecard will be used. The computer will convert hole-by-hole scores to points. Do NOT turn in the scorecard in the pro shop!

Posting: Tournament Committee will post scores to the NCGA/GHIN.

Local rules: For a list of permanent local rules always in effect in AGC tournaments and temporary local rules that may be enacted the day of a tournament, refer to the LTGC local rules sheet.

Tees: Players shall play from the tees outlined in the AGC tee chart. Tournament committee will determine where tee markers are placed.

Closies, skins:  No closies OR skins this tournament.

Scoring: Each group must submit hole-by-hole gross scores via the Golf Genius app, then turn in a signed and attested official paper scorecard to the scoring area within 15 minutes of completing the round. Failure to submit scores in Golf Genius will be grounds for disqualification. Volunteers at the scorers table will not submit scores for you. If there is a discrepancy between the electronic scores and the official scorecard and no one from the group is available to clarify, the official scorecard will be used. Do NOT turn in the scorecard in the pro shop!

Posting: Tournament Committee will post scores to the NCGA/GHIN.

December: Beat the Staff

Rules Committee: Dave Maly, Ron Parish, PGA, Bobby Aicone. Rules updated 12/13/23

Format: Two-of-four net best ball team stroke play. Optional individual $10 gross/net skins. Teams play as a foursome; choose your own team or tournament director will group individuals together. Each player golfs his own ball; the best two individual net scores on each hole comprise the team score. Teams with better net scores than the Staff Team will receive a special prize. If a team has fewer than four players, it will get a replacement score as its fourth player. Triple Dipper: All cut holes on each green (2 or 3 per hole) will be open -- players can putt out into any of them. Closies can be measured from any hole.

Pace of play: Target pace is less than 4 hours; acceptable pace is 4:15 or less. A group shall submit scores electronically and turn in a signed and attested paper scorecard to the scorer’s area no more than 15 minutes after completion of round.

Click here for USGA match play rules & info.

Skins: A skin is won by anyone who posts the lowest score in relation to par on a hole among all individuals in the skins game. Winners of individual holes will split the pot. (Example: If there are 5 net skins and the net pot is $100, each individual receives $20 cash.) If no individual winners, skins go to any TWO players tied with the lowest score in relation to par on a hole(s), etc.

Closies:  Closest to the hole competition on all par-3s, paying one spot per hole.

NOTE 1/24/23: These need updating!!!

More on local rules:

https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules/rules-2019/committee-procedures/rule-8.html

(DO WE NEED THIS ITEM WHEN PLAYING WINTER RULES?) EMBEDDED BALL: Rule 16.3 allows relief for a ball embedded anywhere in the “general area” (the area previously known as “through the green”), except when embedded in sand. In taking relief, the player drops the original ball or a substituted ball within one club-length of (but not nearer the hole than) the spot right behind where the ball was embedded.

Old rules (prior to adoption of local rules in 2023)

February: Two-Player Scramble

Rules Committee: Byron Eggers, Dave Maly, Ron Parish, PGA. Rules updated 5/27/22

Format: Low Gross/Low Net, 2-player scramble. Course index will be 25% of each team’s combined handicap index. The difference in the individual indexes cannot be greater than 8; otherwise, the higher index will be decreased to meet the 8-point differential. A maximum of 9 strokes per team will be allowed ((18 strokes + 18 strokes) x 25%).

Scramble golf: Each player tees off on each hole. Best tee shot is selected and all team members play their second shot from that spot. (ONE SCORECARD LENGTH (10 inches), no nearer hole, same cut of grass.) The best second shot is selected, then all play their third shot from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed. Each player must use at least 6 drives. Reminder: When putting, if the first player misses -- do not tap it in or second player loses his chance! Once the ball is holed, that is the score that must be used.

Pace of play (single rider carts): Acceptable overall pace is between 3:30 to 3:45. Groups that fall more than a hole behind the group ahead or the desired overall pace will be subject to: First offense: Warning and put on the clock until returning to proper position. Second offense: 2-stroke penalty for each hole not in proper position. Third offense: Disqualification and review of participation at next AGC Board Meeting.

Rules: Unless otherwise directed, use summer rules (USGA rules govern play including playing the ball down). If in doubt on a rule, play two balls and bring the issue before the Rules Committee. Local rules: Line-of-sight relief from protective net behind No. 8 green and protective net behind No. 3 tee. Gravel road along Nos. 15 and 18 is considered cart path. Left of gravel road is considered penalty area…. If a ball is on a green and a plastic hole cover is on a line between your ball and the hole, you can take relief, nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. … There are two cuts around the edges of the greens. The outer cut marks the actual green; if the inner cut might impact your ball's path, you may move it to the nearest point inside the inner circle, no nearer the hole. … Always confer with playing partners before taking relief. … Drainage ditches filled with rocks and drainage ditches crossing 4, 5, 12, 16 and 17 are deemed ground under repair. Proceed under USGA Rule 16-1: Free drop, nearest point of relief, 1 club length, no nearer the hole.

Bunkers: When no rakes in sand trap, lift ball & clean, smooth sand with hand or foot, and place ball within one club-length while remaining in the sand.

Tees markers:  Men: White. Women: Red. Seniors 65+ with Handicap Index 20.0 to 26.9 can play from Gold Tees; 27.0+ can play from Red Tournament tees. MUST inform tournament director (antgolfclub@gmail.com) by Wednesday before tournament if you intend to play from alternate tees, otherwise you play from Whites.

Tiebreaker: Scorecard playoff: Back 9 total, then last 6, then last 3, then last 1, front 9 total, front 9 last 6, front 9 last 3, front 9 last 1.

Posting: Scores from this tournament should not be posted to NCGA/GHIN.

Scoring: In tournament play, players should swap scorecards and record each other’s hole-by-hole gross scores unless otherwise directed. It is each player’s responsibility to ensure his/her team’s hole-by-hole gross scores are accurately submitted into the “AGC Submit Scores form” via cellphone, and that official scorecards (signed & attested) are turned in to the scoring table BEFORE LEAVING THE COURSE. Incorrect scorecard, failure to submit score or submit incorrectly may result in disqualification. (If a player records and signs for a higher score than what he/she actually shot, he/she takes the higher score. If he/she records and signs for a lower score, he/she is DQ’d.)
