Ms. Ahrens

Oakleaf High School

9-12th grade

Ms. Amy Ahrens has taught at Oakleaf High School since the doors opened in August of 2010. Since then, the photography program has expanded into one of the largest programs at the school and is consistently updated with state-of-the-art equipment. The photography program consists of four year long classes, Photo 1-4. The program prepares students for industry level jobs throughout the digital media field. Students have the opportunity to leave the program certified in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro. Ms. Ahrens and Mr. Ormeo both have labs of 34+ iMacs, professional studio lighting, digital cameras, and a historical timeline of film cameras. The program continues to grow each year.

Besides teaching, Ms. Ahrens plays fiddle in a bluegrass band, runs an online button business, and lives to go on outdoor adventures and camping trips.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. - Barack Obama
