CREEKSIDE HEALTH FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTICE POLICIES

No-show & late cancellation fees (less than 24hrs) will be enforced.
We understand that life happens (but less so if it’s a powder day), so please let us know as soon as you can if you need to cancel your appointment (or will be late) by calling  the office directly at 604-962-2447 or emailing
moa@creeksidehealth.ca.

Fees are $85 for a no-show or late visit. Our No Show Policy and Late Visit Policy will be enforced at the discretion of the physician. If there have been 2 or more no-show visits to the doctors and/or any specialists referred to, the patient-doctor relationship may be terminated due to a lack of continuity of care.

Results.
Email is not a secure method of communication and is discouraged unless required for non-medical administration concerns.

We do not give out results over the phone. However, your doctor or nurse may try to call you if they have something to discuss. Please make sure we have your cellular number, or we cannot contact you. Should a result come in, and the doctor needs to discuss it with you, we will call you and make an appointment.

The receptionists are not permitted to give out results!
This is in accordance with privacy guidelines expected by the CPSBC*.

In addition, the province of BC, along with Excelleris, has launched a website that allows BC patients secure access to their lab results. Please go to the website MyCareCompass for more information and how to sign up.

Prescription refills require an appointment, virtual, telephone or in-person. Faxed requests from pharmacies and/or email requests will be rejected and redirected to book an appointment.

After Hours Care for paneled patients of Creekside Health Family Medicine Clinic

If you are sick or need immediate care when our office is closed, please try the following options:

It is strongly recommended that a patient book an appointment with their doctor or locum/covering physician at least once per year, including children, so the doctor is aware that the patient is still under their care.

All patients are expected to have reviewed the Uninsured Services that Creekside Health is obligated to charge for certain services.

UNINSURED SERVICES DOCTORS OF BC

Some medical office services, called uninsured services, are not covered by BC Health Insurance and must be paid for directly by the patient, regardless of whether they have BC Health Insurance.  These fees may be covered under a patient’s private health insurance, and the patient may be reimbursed for fees paid to the clinic. Please check with your insurance carrier.  The fees charged by the clinic for uninsured services comply with the Doctors of BC guidelines, which are updated on an annual basis.

The clinic’s working hours are intended to discuss and address your medical concerns and to focus on your health. Therefore, when your doctor works on completing your forms and uninsured requests, it is outside office hours.

Filling out forms required by employers or disability insurers can be a tedious, repetitive and time-consuming process, as it requires accurate information on the part of the physician.  We believe that these can potentially become an administrative burden and a detriment to your physician’s well-being when there is no compensation involved for the extra effort and time invested.

Remember that your physician’s main interest and enjoyment is in practicing medicine, not in doing paperwork or administrative tasks. You are being asked to pay for these uninsured services as you would pay your notary, accountant, lawyer, financial advisor, clinical counselor, naturopath, chiropractor, psychologist, etc.

Fees for these forms generally follow the recommended amounts set by the BC Medical Association.  A comprehensive list may be found at: doctorsofbc.ca.

Same Day Fit Ins and Emergency Policies. Now available same-day fit-in service for any urgent appointments.  We only accept the same day and walk-in appointments BY AVAILABILITY for OUR PATIENTS. What defines an urgent appointment? Examples include:

Rude, aggressive, racist, sexist and/or other inappropriate behaviour is not tolerated towards our doctors or any other Creekside Health staff member.
If this behaviour occurs, Creekside Health Family Medicine may terminate the patient-doctor relationship with this patient immediately with no additional warnings.

By attending your appointment at Creekside health you are agreeing to abide by these aforementioned policies.
