ABOUT BLUESTAMP (BSE)

BSE is a tech-centered engineering education company that empowers the next generation of student engineers through immersive, hands-on learning. Since 2011, we have been equipping students with practical skills to create, troubleshoot, and innovate independently, fostering a community of adaptable problem-solvers who explore their passions through engineering projects.

Today, BSE operates remote learning programs during the school year, as well as its flagship summer program both remotely and in-person in San Jose, CA. Our summer students apply to our program and if accepted, select and build an individualized engineering project of their choice. To get a better idea about the amazing projects our students build, just take a look at our previous student portfolios!

POSITION OVERVIEW

BSE is hiring highly skilled and motivated engineers to join our team as instructors for summer 2025.

As an engineering instructor at BSE, you’ll guide students through ambitious, real-world engineering projects while fostering their technical curiosity and problem-solving skills. This role involves teaching essential engineering principles, demonstrating safe and effective tool usage, mentoring students in technical documentation, and instilling troubleshooting skills to build their resilience and independence as engineers. Our projects are challenging and deeply technical, requiring instructors to have engineering project experience, adaptability, and a knack for clear, inspiring communication.

Join us to make a lasting impact on young engineers, and be part of a team that’s as passionate about teaching as it is about technology.

  1. Raspberry Pi and Arduino, particularly with external sensors, displays, power supplies, and/or motors.
  2. Computer vision or machine learning, particularly with OpenCV or TensorFlow.
  1. A proactive, "get it done right the first time" mindset. Unwavering honesty, integrity, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are a must.
  2. Demonstrated maturity and respect in professional and educational settings, with a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
  3. Capability to think and act quickly on a project, identifying effective solutions within a structured, fast-paced schedule in a dynamic environment.
  4. Strong aptitude for simplifying complex topics for individuals with limited experience, showing patience and empathy in all interactions.
  5. Genuine desire to inspire middle through high school students about the excitement of engineering, motivating them through the challenging and sometimes frustrating stages of prototyping and project completion.

COMPENSATION

Remote instructors are paid a total salary of $1,650 per three-week class taught, paid out biweekly.

For example, an instructor that teaches both the morning and afternoon class for two sessions would make $1,650 x 4 = $6,600. An instructor that teaches both the morning and afternoon class for all three sessions would make $1,650 x 6 = $9,900.

Remote instructors are eligible for a discretionary, merit-based bonus of up to 15% of their salary for exemplary performance that goes above and beyond job expectations. This bonus is awarded at the sole discretion of the company based on individual performance assessments. Any eligible bonus will be paid out in September.
