MOTION: Reading of the 19 July 2018 Meeting Minutes be dispensed as they have been subsumed into the current agenda/minutes
- Presenter: Emily Lappat, Executive Director, Serve Our Willing Warriors (SOWW)
- 2013 Church Service Project is how the program starter. Home for veteran to heal after hospital stay. 11,000 sq ft house. PenFed helping to build a second home. Bull Run Warrior Retreat. Recruit from Ft. Belvoir & Walter Reed. Retired, combat veteran, wounded, ill, service members. Candidates fill out a questionnaire on what they want to do. Retreat, Relax program. No Med program. Funding from grants and donations from community. Mighty Oaks partners. The stay is time with family to include a family reunion. Require the documentation saying disabled award letters. Check in Friday Check out Wednesday. 3 major fundraisers: Inaugural Bike Ride, Gala Ritz in Tysons, and Golf Tournament. October 25 ribbon cutting fo new home. Open Houses for volunteers. Sept 6 1 p.m. anyone can walk through retreat.

- Edie provided 3 questions that she teaches her nurses at Shenandoah on mental health.

- If any question is Yes, stay with person and get professional help.
- September is Suicide Prevention Month
- First responders partnership compile info and collaborate, educate
- Quarterly meetings
- Identify goals and objectives for CVEB
- Goals were established previously
- Need objectives to reach those goals
- More active local government involvement. Get law enforcement to attend meetings.

- Make appropriate connections, Outreach
- Growth influx of veterans to community. Federal employees.

- How using money after becoming 510 c(3)?
- Promoting/advertising for events
- Veteran needs
- Too soon to know what to do with donations
- CVEB gets veteran in need. Gets veteran to call a recommended VSO. VSO vets veteran. CVEB is engagement outreach
- Veterans need to know about CVEB
- Get added to United Way List of Resources Community Service Directory?
- Vet organizations that goes to our database. Research organization to know how they are valid.

- August 24th, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. 10th district job fair at Loudoun County School Admin building in Ashburn, VA. Over 50 employers.
- August 30 – Veteran’s military tribute at Shenandoah County Fair
- September 8th 11 am- 5 pm: Heroes on the River Annual Event on Shenandoah River, Boyce VA
- September 8th Honor Flight trip for WWII/Korea/Vietnam Veterans totally free trip to DC to visit memorials. Reserve seat at 540-692-9197
- October 3rd: VFW and VEC Hiring Event
- October 13: Honor Flight trip for WWII/Korea/Vietnam Veterans reserve seat 540-692-9197
- November 3rd: NSV CVEB Fall Event in partnership with Kernstown Battlefield Association @ Kernstown Battlefield
- November 29; Three CVEBs to participate in Vet Talks. Speaking event of 5 – 7 minutes on skills & values of military in community.
