Landlord/Tenant - Homelessness Prevention Program – Dayton Mediation Center  

The Dayton Mediation Center’s Landlord/Tenant – Homelessness Prevention Programming seeks to support all those who reside in Montgomery County in their efforts to maintain housing. Our services include mediation, conflict coaching, landlord/tenant education and referral to other supportive agencies, which can assist in areas such as rental assistance. Translation services available upon request! Our services are free and confidential. Contact Aaron Primm - Mediation Specialist II - 937-333-2349 or Aaron.Primm@daytonohio.gov

Dayton Foodbank

56 Armor Place, 937-461-0265, Mon,  Wed., 9 am – 11 am, Drive through, they load your vehicle, no ID or proof of address needed. They will ask you to state your name and address.   May be the best option with the least requirements but expect long lines.

St. Mary Food Pantry

310 Allen St. 937-256-5633, Tues, Thurs, 9 am to 11:30 AM.  Please bring ID. Info is confidential.

Catholic Social Services Food Pantry

922 Riverview Ave, 937-223-7217, Mon-Thurs 9:30-11:30am, Must reside in zip codes: 45402,05,06,17,28, present photo ID and recent proof of address.

St Paul United Methodist Church, 101 Huffman Ave, 937-252-4467, Mon, Wed, Thurs, 10 am -2:45 pm, Must reside in zip code 45403, present photo ID and recent proof of address.

Good Neighbor House

627 E. 1st Street, Call first: 937-224-3003, Mon-Thurs, Must present photo ID and Social Security cards for all family members or 211 Card (If you have received one in the past from GNH or any other organization).  .

Access to Excess (https://www.accesstoexcessfood.org/) gives away free produce on Sundays at 5pm in the Spring-Summer-Early Fall at the Trotwood Library (855 E. Main St., Trotwood, OH 45426).  Show up and take what you need.  Follow on Facebook and Instagram for weekly updates.

A full range of services, including dental care, are available regardless of immigration status and regardless of the ability to pay.  They will work out payment on a sliding scale.  Translation available.

 

Good Neighbor House Dental Services

627 East First Street, Dayton, 45402.  937-224-3442. https://goodneighborhouse.org/services/dental/ 

Requirements for ID and the paperwork required to qualify for a discount may be more flexible than stated. Patients who do not speak English are welcome to bring a person to translate. A phone translator is also available for Spanish and perhaps other languages. Recent experience:  name, birthday, and medical history were required. Medical history form in Spanish was available.  With discount, an exam, x-ray and extraction were $84.  Antibiotics were provided at no extra charge.

 

Five Rivers Community Health Centers Dental Center (Edgemont)

 Recent experience: not taking new dental patients but accepting patients with emergency dental needs by calling at 7:45 am on weekdays to inquire about same day  openings.  Patient’s name, date of birth and address are required to make the appointment.  A contact phone number is required but it need not be the patient’s phone number.  

New Carlisle Community Health Center

Outside of Dayton but very welcoming of Spanish speakers with many Spanish speaking staff. Recent info is that new dental patient intake is delayed until March 2023, but that emergency patients can be seen upon approval of the dentist.

CLOTHING

Threads of the Miami Valley (https://www.threadsoutreach.org/appointments.html) provides free clothing.  Must make an appointment online and have a photo ID.  Eligible for 3 visits.

 

East Dayton Fellowship (https://bicus.org/church/east-dayton-fellowship/) provides free clothing on Fridays at 1130-1pm.  Lunch is also provided by Food for the Journey, and well as a small food pantry.  No ID needed, and can use as often as needed.
