Updates and Reminders for the week ending Friday, May 31 | |
This Week We… Math: We will continue working on Module 6 which focuses on Geometry, Measurement, and Data. We will calculate elapsed time on a number line, and learn about attributes of polygons. We will also work on perimeter and area and starting graphing.
In Fundations, students continued working with words that end with the /er/ sound.  Students learned that the letter w can change the sound of ar and or (ex. Warm, worm). This week, students continued drafting their personal or fictional narrative.  Students learned how  actions, thoughts, feelings, and dialogue can enhance their writing.  They also learned the components of an effective conclusion. Science/ Social Studies: learned about the Civil War and Reconstruction. Social Emotional Learning (SEL)  learned about sizeism, health at any size, and positive body image. | Next Week We Will… Math: We will wrap up Module 6 with more work on graphing which will include a graphing project where they will collect their own data in a survey and present the data in different forms.
In Fundations, students will finish Unit 9. Unit 9  Family Letter can be found here (Spanish). Students will finish drafting and/or publish their narratives. Students will participate in various ELA review activities. Science/ Social Studies: learn about the Industrial Revolution and Segregation. These  lessons are very small introductions to huge events in history. We will also take a snapshot of AVL history. Social Emotional Learning (SEL): learn about the experience of immigration.  |
