MAP SCALES AND CONTOUR INTERVALS

map Vífilsstaðahlið

Terrain and map information

The long and middle distance event will take place in Heiðmörk and Vífilsstaðahlíð. The both area are  a mix of forest and shrubland on the edge of the Capital. Small thick forests, some lava fields, some open terrain, steep hills and a lot of variation make this area exciting for runners as well as tricky to navigate. Post glacial hills with lower altitudes.  The area is  split with big fissure which mark the two different plate that Iceland sits on. This fissure is only accessible on few places since it is mainly high cliff with impossible thick forest on the slope.
