LEAGUE FORMAT

• The INVITATIONAL League consists of 2 conferences with 2 divisions each

Light World Conference
Lost Woods & Kakariko with 7 teams per division.

Dark World Conference
Misery Mire & Skull Woods with 7 teams per division.

• The OPEN League consists of 2 conferences with 2 divisions each

Pendant Conference

Eastern Palace & Desert Palace with 7 teams per division.

Crystal Conference

Palace of Darkness & Thieves Town with 6 teams per division.

• Each team must consist of exactly 3 players, each with a specific designation of Courage, Wisdom, and Power chosen at registration. Each team must also submit a team name at registration and a team logo by February 6th, at 11:59pm EST.

(logos should be in .png format with 300px x 300px dimensions).

• Teams can replace one player per season.

After divisions have been revealed, players who have previously won an Invitational League championship are ineligible to be used as replacements. Trades are not allowed; players may only play for one team in the course of a League season, including playoffs.

• Each week teams are responsible for scheduling two races with their designated opponents.

Scheduling threads will be automatically generated in the division Discord channels. Use of these threads is recommended for communications, though not required.

• Each of the week’s two races must be completed by a different team member.

Exception: Co-op races may be run by the same 2 team members if desired.
Note: With two races scheduled each week, one team member will not compete during any given week. Exceptions could be co-op weeks.

• Every team member must race a minimum of 5 times per season.

• At the end of the season, each team who has a member that has not raced the minimum of 5 races will be deducted 4 points for each race below the minimum that player did not participate in.

• The regular season race week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday.

REGISTRATION

• 32 Teams will be invited into the Invitational League.

• The invited 32 teams will be the 28 teams not relegated from Season 6 and the Top 4 Open League teams from Season 6.

• A returning team must have 2 or more of the same runners to maintain their invitation for the Invitational League.

• Additional Invitational slots that may be open will be filled by administrators’ discretion from registered Open League teams.
•
Registration for the League opens Sunday January 12th, at 12pm EST and ends Sunday January 26th, at 12pm EST.

• A full 3-person team must be assembled at the time of registration.

• If there are an odd number of teams registered at the scheduled end of the sign-up period, registration will remain open until an additional team registers. If no additional team registers within a reasonable time as determined by the admins, the last team to register for the Open League will be cut.

• Registration will be limited to 116 teams total between both leagues. If this limit is reached before the scheduled end of the sign-up period, the sign-up period will end early.

• The ALTTPR League Discord #looking-for-a-team channel is available to use to recruit and build your own team.

• Playoff weeks start on Thursday

Co-op Info Share, Open, Defeat Ganon, Enemy Shuffle, Full Boss Shuffle, Starting Boots (Co-op Enemizer Boots)

This would also apply to the 4th Playoff Mode.

SCORING

Win - 3 points

Loss - 0 points

Tie - 1 point (Finishes within 2 seconds will be retimed. For co-op races, excluding Co-op Duality, the retimed race will be declared a tie if the teams’ average times are within one second. For 1v1 races, as well as for Co-op Duality, the retimed race will only be declared a tie if the admins determine that a reasonable person would not be able to tell conclusively which runner finished first.)

 • New for Season 7: Note: For the co-op weeks except for Week 3 (Co-op Duality), winners will be determined by averaging the team members’ times.  Week 3 will be scored by comparing the last finishing racer from each team. A forfeit counts as an automatic loss for that team, regardless of the partner's time.

When two or more teams finish the regular season with the same number of points, tiebreakers will be applied as follows:

TIEBREAKERS — INVITATIONAL LEAGUE

Division Tiebreakers

1) Head-to-head

1a) If the tie is among 3 or more teams, best aggregate record against other teams involved in the tie

2) Record against other teams from their own division during regular season

3) Record against other playoff teams from their own division during regular season (i.e., teams that have clinched playoff position but are not involved in the tie to be broken)

4) Record during co-op weeks

5) 1 Game Race-off (Open, Defeat Ganon, 7/7)

Note: The Race-off only applies if some of the tied teams will not qualify for playoffs. If all of the tied teams have qualified for playoffs and the tiebreaker is only for seeding, a coin flip will be used instead.

Conference Seeding/Finals Tiebreakers

1) Head to head (if applicable)

2) Rank within their division

3) Record against other playoff teams from their own division during regular season

4) Record during co-op weeks

5) Coin Flip

Note: The Race-off only applies if some of the tied teams will not qualify for playoffs or if the tie is for 1st place and therefore determines a bye. If all of the tied teams have qualified for playoffs without a bye and the tiebreaker is only for seeding, a coin flip will be used instead.

4) Record during co-op weeks

5) Coin Flip

If any tiebreaker races are required in either league, they will be held between April 7th-16th.

INVITATIONAL LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

The top 4 teams from each division qualify for the playoffs.

Format: Each round is best-of-3. Each team selects 2 members to participate in each race.

No team member can race more than 2 times per round.

Game 2: The lower seed chooses one of the modes below* that wasn’t picked for Game 1 and also chooses 2 players from their team to race. Then the higher seed chooses 2 players from their team to race. Teams must select a different combination of 2 players each than they selected for Game 1.

Note: Games 1 and 2 may be played in any order, but the higher seed must pick the mode for Game 1 before the lower seed picks the mode for Game 2.

Game 3 (if needed): The higher seed chooses one of the modes below* that wasn’t picked for Game 1 or Game 2.
The players who race will be the players who didn’t race in both Game 1 and Game 2.

• The top 6 teams in each division in the Invitational League will be guaranteed an invite to participate in the Invitational League in Season 8.

• If there is a tie for last place in a division, the Division Tiebreakers listed above will be used.

• The top 4 teams overall from the Open League will also be guaranteed an invite to participate in the Invitational League in Season 8.

• For these purposes, the top 4 teams are defined as the 4 teams advancing to the Conference Finals, regardless of regular season standings.

• If there are additional spots available in the Invitational League in Season 8, it will be at the League Admins’ sole discretion whether to give preference for those spots to the remaining teams from the Season 7 Invitational League, additional teams from the Season 7 Open League, or newly created teams.

RACE PROCEDURES & RULES

LEAGUE CODE OF CONDUCT

• Players are expected to abide by the spirit of the rules below. Attempts to game the ruleset may result in disqualification from the League.

• We take cheating seriously and public accusations of cheating will not be tolerated. Such actions could result in expulsion from the ALTTPR League. If you believe a player is cheating, please DM an admin.

• Players who are removed for conduct violations will be banned from future League seasons

RACE PROCEDURES

• Races will use RaceTime.gg. You must be registered and be familiar with joining race rooms and racing with RT.gg prior to the start of the league.

• Players must have their discord settings configured to allow Direct Messages (DMs) from all League admins, mods, and bot overlords, as well as all bots in the League discord server.
New for Season 7: Racers will not be broadcasting with a stream delay.

• All races will have a room created 30 minutes prior to the race's starting time by SahasrahBot. You will be sent a DM on Discord inviting you to the race room. You should have your stream live at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the race. The SG Helper/League restreamer will generate your seed 5 minutes prior to the start of your race. If your race is not restreamed you will generate your seed 5 minutes prior to the start of your race.

• The League Bot will directly message you the seed for your race.

• All races must be streamed on Twitch and VOD saving must be enabled.

• Players who do not stream their entire race will be requested by the admins to provide a VOD. Failure to provide a VOD accounting for all missing segments from the stream will result in disqualification from that race.

• Players are expected to be on time for races. If you do not join the race room by 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, another eligible member of your team (i.e., has not yet raced that week, except for co-op weeks) may replace you. If no eligible member of your team is available, it will be at your opponent’s discretion how long to wait for you before disqualifying you from the race.

• In the event a player is disqualified for either of the above reasons, their opponent may offer a rematch, provided the rematch is completed by the normal deadline for that week’s races.

• All races that have been completed on racetime.gg will have their results stand. Any requests for rematches of completed races will require admin approval.

• If both runners forfeit a race for any reason (or at least one runner on each team forfeits a co-op race), they must reschedule the race within the allotted time for that week or playoff round. If they are unable to do so, both teams will be credited with a loss for that race, but both runners will be credited with one race toward their minimum requirement of five.

        • This includes situations where one runner forfeits and the other runner is disqualified.

• All races that end in a tie in the playoffs will be re-raced by the same runners with the same game modes.

• All races for the week must be completed by Sunday Night 11:59pm Eastern Time. Any races not completed by this time will be counted as losses for both teams.

• If you complete a co-op seed ahead of your partner, you are allowed to re-enter the seed. You must however let the credits scroll until you see "the end" appear on the screen on the final card. It does not have to fade all the way in, but when you see the end, you can reset and then re-enter your game. You are allowed to use the select or X button to speed the credits up. You are however, NOT allowed to use emulator specific functions, such as fast forward, to speed this process up.

ASYNC RACE PROCEDURES

• Asynchronous play (“asynching”) is not allowed during the solo play weeks of the regular season.

New for Season 7: Each team is allowed to initiate a request to race one async for a co-op match over the course of the regular season. If two opposing teams request an async and neither team has initiated an async yet for the season, whichever team first proposed the possibility of an async in the scheduling thread will be considered to have initiated the async. (In this situation, the teams may also opt to async both of their races for the week. In that case, each team will be considered to have initiated one async.)  If the async request was initiated, but the teams raced both live races during the week, then the async option is not considered to be used. If both teams in a matchup have already used their async option during the season, the match must be raced live or it will be considered a loss for both teams. No exceptions.

• During the regular season we expect teams to be flexible in terms of how players match up. E.g., if Players A and B on Team 1 really want to face Players X and Y on Team 2, but then Players A and C wouldn’t be able to schedule a live race against Players X and Z, it is expected that the teams would see if A and B vs X and Z and A and C vs X and Y could both be scheduled live before they request an async. This of course doesn’t apply if one player on a team wants/needs to take the week off altogether.

• Asynching is only allowed during the playoffs in Game 3 of a series (i.e., winner-take-all). This rule applies regardless of whether either, neither, or both teams initiated an async during the regular season. In this case, both teams must demonstrate to the admins that they have reasonable availability and have exhausted all reasonable options for scheduling a live race within the allotted time frame.

• Async races may not be streamed to Twitch and must be recorded locally, with the local recording uploaded to a private location and provided to the admins immediately following the race. Admins will clarify any further async requirements to the teams involved when coordinating the async.

GENERAL RACING RULES

• The ALTTPR League follows the ruleset defined by The ALTTPR Racing Community (TARC).
       •
ALTTPR Racing Ruleset

• Any glitches that are discovered after the release of the League document will not be allowed in League until announced by League admins.

• Players may not be in a restream channel or chat during the race.
• Auto tracking for Items, Keys, and Cleared Map Locations is permitted.
New for Season 7: Auto tracking dungeon layouts in doors shuffle modes is not permitted.

• Quickswap menuing is permitted for all matches.

Hardware-specific rules

ZSNES & older versions of SNES9X are banned

Allowed flash cartridges include the SD2SNES/FXPak and Super Everdrive

The following console brands are allowed for play with flash cartridges or SD-cards:

Hyperkin • MiSTer (Unofficial/Custom Cores)

Turbo controllers and functionality are both banned

Emulator specific functionality is banned (e.g. save states, fast forward, etc)

Pressing Up+Down or Left+Right simultaneously is banned

Only one action can be mapped to any given button

Only one button can be mapped to any given action

CO-OP RULES

• For co-op, team members will communicate and share information verbally using one of the co-op voice channels in the League discord. Screen sharing is not allowed. Sharing information via a shared document is permitted. Shared documents are only allowed for the weeks marked ‘Co-Op Info Share’.

• Watching other racers' streams, including your own teammate’s streams, before the winning team is known is not allowed.

New for Season 7: For Week 3, Co-op Duality, players must finish their goals once they’ve hit collective go mode as a team. This is defined as when a team no longer wants to open items to look for safeties or better equipment. This also means players are not allowed to kill Ganon and sit in the Ganon room until their partner is also ready to finish, prolonging their finish time. Additionally, when players finish, they must mark themselves as done instead of waiting for their partner to finish. Any abuse of this will be met with a disqualification from the match, and may result in removal from the League. (See also the first rule in the League Code of Conduct.)

RESTREAMS

• By registering to race in the ALTTPR League, you consent to being restreamed on either of our associated networks: SpeedGaming or TheALTTPRLeague1-4. You are within your rights to revoke this consent. If you would like to opt out entirely of your races being restreamed, please contact the ALTTPR League admin team.

New for Season 7: If there is no official restream for a match within 12 hours of the match’s scheduled start time, community members may set up their own restreams of matches, with the runner's consent (in accordance with Twitch's ToS).

• We ask that there only be one (1) restream of any given match, with the exception of alternate language restreams (official or otherwise). If you would like to join our restream team, we offer a very easy restreaming experience that is of much higher restreaming quality than home-made restreaming.

New for Season 7: We encourage official restreams on TheALTTPRLeague channels over an individual’s personal channel. All revenues from TheALTTPRLeague Twitch channels are used to cover the cost of the servers and domain name for the League website and backend, as well as the boosts necessary for the League discord server to allow team icon emotes and flair. If there is a revenue surplus after covering these costs, the surplus will be donated to the prize pool for ALTTPR at SpeedGaming Live 2025.

New for Season 7: Players should expect all playoff matches to be restreamed on one of our associated networks, subject to restreamer availability, and exceptions will be made only under extenuating circumstances.
