MITRALAYAM
A Social Group and platform has been formed for friends who have studied in various educational institutions in Narasaraopet and are currently above sixty years of age to develop friendship, intimacy and respect for each other in their retired life. The Group was named “Mitralayam”. In the initial establishment of the group in full pledged manner, 15 to 20 persons have continuously met, discussed and worked for continuous operation. This group does not primarily cover the promotion of political meetings and discussion in any manner. It is also restricted for personal propaganda on individual achievement except for social works. Apart from regular day to day work, a number of persons are actively involved in social activities like poor feeding, giving clothes to the poor, educating and assisting the orphans, associating different organisations for social activities in different places. 3 annual meetings have been arranged in Narasaraopet with all food and facilities. A good number of members have arrived from long distances and met seniors, classmates, juniors, memorized important childhood events, and enjoyed a full day in a happy mood.
In order to have a regular discussion on various topics daily, a whatsapp group ‘mitralayam’ is formed and 280 persons, senior citizens with 60+ age group, have joined the group and are discussing and chatting. The main purpose of the "Mithralayam" group is to maintain old friendships, share life experiences, and share laughter, memories, and thoughts with each other. Therefore, this platform should not only be self-praise but also self-examination. Every member in the group has freedom of opinion. However, members should maintain mutual respect and gentleness while sharing their posts and comments. Normally things or matters most people like will be encouraged and others will not be encouraged. On the subjects, which are going to be not liked by more people and not good in their meaning should be expressed politely in the form of opinions. No one should show anger or argue with each other on this. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly state some things in advance to maintain the harmony of the group.
As there is a possibility of causing differences of opinion or unnecessary arguments in the group, related to political ideology, caste, religious or spiritual propaganda comments are not allowed. However, if any member comments or tries to argue against the group rules, the situation may become more tense as other members directly start arguments. Therefore, if such messages appear, for which any person is not interested or uncomfortable with, we request him to immediately bring them to the notice of one of the admins instead of discussing them. The admins are responsible for reviewing and removing posts or matters that are against the group rules.
We are currently continuing the copy-paste and forward message policy in the group with some control. Any member can send copy/forward messages which are important and useful to the senior citizens, if the messages are related to the ideology of the group and with a restriction of 2 messages maximum per a day. However, in case, when the limit exceeds, the messages will be deleted in order to give a chance to others to post the messages and to reduce the load of the group. Necessary advice will be given to such members to follow rules of the group strictly.
In addition to the whatsapp group, the group has planned to become a regular association by registering and having a full pledged committee to monitor and associate in all the activities that are planned in different towns like Narasaraopet, Guntur, Hyderabad etc. for social activities to help the needy. This is the best way to have monthly meetings and plan activities, to maintain social relations with other people and organisations. For that purpose we are searching for an accommodation with least expenditure. We have collected the data from all the members to send wishes on their Annual Birth Day and Annual Marriage Day. A website has been floated on the net taking a domain on rent, through which any person anywhere can access it and observe the activities and useful information.
