Information On Our Tax Resolution Services Process

Congratulations on taking the first step towards eliminating your tax debt!

Our goal is to offer you a clear understanding of the process for resolving your tax problem and to leave you with realistic expectations as to probable outcomes. Our role is to negotiate the lowest possible IRS payment amount, under the most favorable schedule, allowed by law.  We will also look at possible penalty abatement, offer-in-compromise and other available remedies as allowed and qualified.

We do this by following a three-phase process.

Phase one is the Evaluation Phase.   We start by obtaining a power of attorney form for each taxing agency needed.  We then review all documents you provide us, request, and review all transcripts & records the IRS has on you.  Once we have a full understanding of your situation from both your perspective and the taxing agencies, we then start the process of determining available resolution options.

We generally will schedule a meeting with you at the conclusion of phase one to discuss our research and available options.  Once you have a clear understanding of options and make a decision of what route you want to take, we then move into phase two.

Phase two is the compliance phase.  From phase one and an interview with you, we will determine if any needed tax returns or other compliance items need completing.  Taxing agencies will not negotiate with you until you are “current” meaning all tax returns have been filed.  If you are current and nothing needs to be prepared and filed, we will move directly to phase three.

Phase three is the resolution phase.  This is where the work is done to attempt to obtain the best possible outcome for you.  This phase will involve a lot of financial calculations, preparation of paperwork, the gathering of records and correspondence, and discussions with the taxing agency.  Depending upon the case, this can be a very time consuming and lengthy process.  As the amount owed goes up, the length of time to complete phase three often increases also.

Professional Fee Payment Process; we use our standard pricing model based upon the complexity of the case and determine a flat fee amount.  We feel it is a win/win to provide resolution services as a known, flat fee amount versus the more common approach of billing hourly.  We obtain a deposit initially and then the remaining amount owed will be split into equal monthly payments.  The length of time for the monthly payments will vary depending upon the case.  We believe in fair pricing for both the client and us as professionals, so will not release a quote or estimates until we fully understand your case. This makes sure we are being as accurate as possible.
