2017 Executive Committee
The time of Paryushan gives us a special opportunity to reflect upon the past year and our behaviors to ourselves and to others.
It is an opportunity that we, as Jains, set aside to seek forgiveness from those, to whom we may have caused harm. And equally important, to find the strength to forgive those, who may have harmed us.
We take this opportunity, and on this very auspicious occasion, to say that if we have hurt you, knowingly or unknowingly, we sincerely ask for your forgiveness …
On behalf of the entire JSCNC Committee …
खामेमि सव्व जीवे, सव्वे जीवा खमंतु मे।
मित्ती मे सव्व-भूएसु, वेरं मज्झ न केणइ।।

Service Recognition Award - Mr. Rameshbhai Fofaria
As many members of the community may be familiar with his work, Shri Rameshbhai Fofaria's contributions have been quite significant. From being one of the founding members of JSCNC, to leading immaculate pujas and various events for the JSCNC Committee, and his contributions as a humanitarian, which include, among others, starting and serving/managing for many years in the Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya to help students from India to study in American colleges remain truly inspirational and unmatched. In addition, he served as a volunteer in many organizations such as Red Cross, Raleigh/Durham Airport (RDU), and as a passenger guide on Amtrak traveling up to Charlotte on a regular basis.
This award was presented to Rameshbhai on Saturday, 2nd September, at his residence amongst family and friends. The link below captures some of those highlights:

Paryushan Maha Parva - 2017
Jain Study Center of North Carolina observed Paryushan from Aug 19 - Aug 26. The occasion included Puja on the first and last days, mixed in with a Bhavana and finally Samvatsari on Saturday. Thanks to Arvindbhai and Arunaben Shah, many of us took the advantage of doing daily Pratikramans at their house. And thanks also to Bhairav and Sejal Shah for hosting the Samvatsari Pratikraman on Saturday to a packed house.
Many thanks to our singers and musicians at the Puja and Bhavna. Mr. Pratyushbhai Mehta, Mrs. Heenaben Mehta, Mr. Mayurbhai Lodaya, Mrs. Ritaben Lodaya, Mrs. Neha Mehta, Mrs. Indiraben Doshi, Mrs. Artiben Shah and Mr. Harshadbhai Shah, did a splendid job at leading many stavans and dhuns.
A huge recognition to Mrs. Rima Shah for completing her tap of 11 days fasting.

Food served during monthly meetings and special events has played a vital role in building our community over the years. It has enabled us to spend quality time to learn Jainism and socialize with other fellow Jains without having to worry about our usual lunch/dinner planning that day. In fact it has also served as an incentive to come together and promote our community. This wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and monetary donations from several individuals. We are extremely grateful for their efforts and thank them for their continued contributions. Visit the following link to find more details on these individuals.
Note that as our community has grown over the years, sustaining the food table program has become challenging. We encourage you to help us here by volunteering to serve as a host, volunteering to prepare food or providing monetary donation so that some food items can be catered.
Please contact our food coordinator, Neha Mehta @ (919) 454-7447 for any questions / details.
