Blast 2019

Tournament

Handbook

Club Directors and Coaches:

Welcome to the 2019 Spring Break Blast Tournament.  Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you for additional events in 2019 and for years to come!  Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make the Spring Break Blast and future events a great experience for you, your team, and your fans!

This will be your last correspondence related to the tournament; this letter and any future communication will be posted on the tournament’s website, www.unionvolleyball.com.  It is important that every coach read this email in its entirety, as this was created in lieu of a coaches’ meeting.

If you did not input your roster on AES, you must submit a copy of your roster upon check-in.

GENERAL TOURNAMENT FORMAT

All Teams:

AGE SPECIFIC RULES:

The 11U division will abide by the normal serving line.

We are searching for a fair rule that will aid in the development of these young players. If by chance, this distance is not lenient enough for the two teams competing in the match, they can approach the official to allow more leniency on the service line. This would involve both coaches agreeing to this and would have to be done on a match by match basis.

TIEBREAKERS:

ALL TIES WILL BE SOLVED VIA THE FOLLOWING PROTOCOL:

Teams tied for position shall not compete in a playoff set to determine seed. Rather, each team’s position shall be determined by the priority system described below.

o Match Percentage

o Head-to-head (ONLY used if it is 2 team tiebreaker)

o Set Percentage

o Point Percentage

o Flip a coin

All calculations are viewable on AES pools online.  Please monitor scores as they are updated to be sure this information is accurate throughout the day.
