Let’s face it, when we write scripts, we often are writing what we want to hear. It’d be extremely nice to hear our words spoken by someone. I’m MattyestMatt, I’ve been writing ASMR/Audio RPs both SFW and NSFW for over three years now and in the past three years I’ve had over 1,000 fills of my scripts from over 200 different performers. Here’s my own tips to increase your fill count.
DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE SIMPLY MY OWN EXPERIENCES AND MY OWN OPINIONS. YOUR EXPERIENCE MAY BE DIFFERENT EVEN WHEN FOLLOWING THESE TIPS. IT’S OKAY TO DISAGREE WITH THESE.
Tip #1: Follow the Trends
- Trends are called trends for a reason. They are popular. A good example of this is the Yandere ASMR RP genre. Yandere is where I started, however as with trends I strongly recommend you make sure you enjoy doing the trend you want to focus on as if you don’t it can be easy to burn out. This doesn’t mean you need to ONLY do trends.
Tip #2: Don’t Be a Jerk:
- You can form a reputation pretty quickly with your attitude. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way, there were times I got a little too involved in shit that I shouldn’t have and due to this some creators think I’m an unhinged drama king or something like that. This does NOT mean that you shouldn’t stand up for your work when people wrong you though.
Tip #3 : Don’t Befriend Performers Simply to Get Them to Fill Your Script
- Don’t befriend other creators ONLY for the sake of getting your scripts getting filled by them. That can go wrong real fast and result in bad situations when the friendship you might appear to have turns out to be only for one’s personal gain. It’s okay to befriend performers, and definitely okay to have VAs you dream of filling your scripts, but trying to “befriend” people simply so they’ll fill your scripts is something that can be seen by them.
Tip #4: Listen AND Comment on Script Fills:
- As I know this has been a discussion at times, I do want to state real quick that you don’t owe anyone a listen or comment of a fill of your script. In my case, there are tons of fills I haven’t listened to or commented on, with the sheer quantity of them, it’s not something I’ve been able to completely keep up with after a while. However, listening and commenting on script fills shows you appreciate the time the performer spent on the fill (provided they didn’t break any policies you had).
Tip #5: Avoid Picking Favorites:
- Let’s be real, a lot of us have our own personal favorites. There’s probably performers out there that you’d love to fill your scripts and it’s exciting when they do end up filling your scripts, but try to avoid showing your favoritism towards them. Admittedly, as I said above I keep my comments pretty straight to the point, however I can see that as they used to be basically a word for word copy pasta, it can be seen as not genuine, but this was done to avoid any appeared favoritism, but now I do try to personalize each comment a bit more.
Tip #6 NEVER BASH A SCRIPT FILL:
- There’s a lot of different people in this community. They have different voices, accents, recording equipment, acting skills, editing skills, so no fill is gonna sound exactly the same. While I’ve personally never had a fill of my script be something I’ve hated, you need to not bash the script fill from someone just because you don’t like their skills. It does nothing productive, and all it does is just make you look like a dick.
