PSALM 149
CONSIDER
• God’s people have two callings: each of which are aspects of worship
• God’s people, whom He created and whom He crowned with salvation, rejoice in the Lord and offer Him praise
• It is evident all through the Old Testament that Israel actively went to war against pagan peoples in and surrounding their land <R1795>

Psalm 149:1-3 NIV
[1] Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. [2] Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. [3] Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.
Psalm 98:1,4-6 NIV
[1] Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. [4] Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; [5] make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, [6] with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn---shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Psalm 150:3-5 NIV
[3] Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, [4] praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, [5] praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.

Psalm 149:4-5 NIV
[4] For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. [5] Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.
