AP Courses and Summer Expectations

AP courses provide students with the opportunity to engage in college-level coursework while still in high school. Each AP course follows a College Board-designed curriculum, which may include prerequisites, extended reading, and work beyond the standard school-day content. To ensure students are prepared for the AP exam and can fully engage with the course material, many AP courses require summer assignments and/or participation in summer sessions. The type and scope of these expectations vary by course but are carefully aligned to the course learning outcomes and designed to support student success.

Teachers meet with students and families during AP Night to outline course-specific expectations and requirements for summer work. Students who enroll in an AP course after the school year ends must contact the course teacher promptly to receive materials and ensure adequate time to complete any assignments.

Below is a list of AP courses, teachers, email addresses, and summer expectations.

Each student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) must review and sign the course-specific AP contract before the school year begins. Contracts are distributed during AP Night and are also available by contacting the teacher or through the course’s Google Classroom, which students can access using the join code provided.

A few AP courses will hold synchronous sessions during July, and many will include asynchronous assignments or preparatory work to be completed before the school year starts. Additionally, several AP courses will meet for their first class sessions during the two orientation days in August. Students are required to attend only the sessions for the AP courses listed on their individual schedules, which will be released in August.

**Please note that these August sessions may conflict with fall sports practices or events. In such cases, students must inform their coaches directly. AP class sessions take priority over athletic commitments.
