The College Board Opportunity Scholarships program has a variety of scholarship opportunities available to students as they complete the steps for applying to college.  Scholarship deadlines vary so be sure to check out the information online for more college and scholarship information.

Gerard J Buckenmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship

The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York will award 25 $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors entering college. The awards recognize exemplary members of the youth fire service who also contribute to their communities.

William Morehouse Scholarship 2021

The William Morehouse Scholarship is a “matching funds” scholarship program administered by the New York State Builders Association Research and Education Foundation.  NYSBA, NYSBA REF, and the fifteen local home builders associations, such as BRANNY, are committed to improving the future of the building industry by creating educational opportunities for students throughout the state. The William Morehouse Scholarship is available to all qualifying students across New York State. Applicant MUST be a high school senior, high school graduate, or a college student attending or planning to attend a one‐, two‐ or four‐year college or a certificate program. The William Morehouse Scholarship was instituted to assist students who are entering a course of study SPECIFIC to the residential construction industry. Its purpose is to assist students in their pursuit of a career in residential construction and to provide employers in New York State with a strong, industry- qualified workforce.

American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars Scholarship

This scholarship program is sponsored by the Schroon Lake American Legion Post 982 and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 362. To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

• be a current high school senior at Schroon Lake Central School.

• have an immediate family member (father, mother, brother, or sister) who is either currently serving active duty, retired veteran, or honorably discharged from the United States Military. This includes Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and the reserve of any branch.

Your completed application and all supporting materials must be received by April 1, 2021.

Epilepsy Foundation Northeastern New York Scholarship Application

The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY, Inc. is offering college scholarships to graduating high school seniors or students who will be enrolled at any post high school institution of higher learning. The Nick Birchak Strength of Character College Scholarship and The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY Scholarship each in the amount of $1,000. The Stephen Piorkowski Scholarship in the amount of $500. Scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently being treated for epilepsy and have plans to further their education. In addition, students must reside in one of 22 counties served by the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY.  The deadline for submitting an application is Monday, April 19, 2021. Students only need to submit one application to be considered for all awards. Agati Laborer's Local Union #322 Scholarship

The Laborers' Local 1822, headquartered in Massena, NY, are sponsoring scholarships for 2021 graduates of Northern New York high schools in Lewis, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and Warren Counties who meet the following requirements.

Eligibility requirements:

The award will be for $1,500 per year and will be granted in June 2021. The award is renewable for up to three years, if the student continues in college and all eligibility requirements are met.

AES Scholarship

The purpose of the AES Northeast Scholarship is to provide a college scholarship award to a student attending an accredited degree program in the field of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, or Construction Management at a college or university. There will be up to two scholarship awards available in the amount of $500 each. Awards are for one time only and not renewable. All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipients.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

Anne Anderson Memorial Scholarship

The North Franklin Federal Credit Union is offering the annual Anne Anderson Memorial Scholarship. To be eligible, the student must be a member of the credit union whose account is in good standing. Applicants are required to complete an application and must be attending college for the first time in the Fall of 2021. Applications are also available at the Credit Union and on the website: www.northfranklinfcu.org. Applications from eligible students need to be received by the scholarship deadline, April 30, 2021.

Associated General Contractors (AGC) of New York State

Since 1988, the Chapter has distributed more than $1.2 Million in the form of over 650 scholarships to New York based college students working towards a degree in construction or construction-related engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) at colleges or universities. The Chapter awards $2500-$5000 undergraduate and graduate scholarships each July.

Dr. Karl R and Ruth Kramer Northeastern Zone Retired Educations of NY Education Scholarship

The Retired Educators of New York Northeastern Zone will be awarding one $500 scholarship. To be eligible, the student must be a high school senior accepted at a post-secondary institution and pursuing a career in the education field. You must complete and return the application to Mrs. Diane Haight, 731 Calkins Road, Peru, NY 12972 on or before May 3, 2021.

Jane Boswell Memorial Scholarship

The Champlain Valley Council of Retirees will be presenting two $500 scholarships this year to high school students who intend to study for teaching certification. Applications should be submitted to the Guidance Office May 3, 2021. Please contact Ms. Reynolds for an application.

2021 Crary Education Fund Scholarship

High School Seniors who live in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton or Warren County. Qualified students are selected by a committee from your school and approved by the Crary Foundation Board of Governors. Annual Awards are up to $1200 and are renewable by reapplying each year. Helpers Fund Scholarship

This can be directed towards the development of trade skills (ex. BOCES, carpentry, auto, cosmetology, cyber security, food service, etc.) Completed applications must be returned to the Helpers Fund by May 15, 2021.

Susan Jensen Memorial Medical Scholarship

For students entering any phase of medical related studies (ex. Nursing, dental, xray tech, lab, paramedic, etc.).

Mountain Lake Services Foundation Scholarship

Five scholarships of $1,000 in $250 increments over the course of four years. If awarded the scholarship, the recipient will be contacted at the end of each school year and upon passing grades and continued enrollment in a human services field course of study, $250 will be awarded.

PB&J Scholarship

The PB&J Scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but have the drive to succeed. Open to high school seniors attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college in the US.

City Property Management HOA Service Scholarship

This scholarship is open nationwide to those who will be attending college during the fall semester of 2021. Special consideration will be given to an undergraduate who is interested in pursuing a career in HOA Management, but anyone meeting the requirements who can demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the Real Estate field will be considered. This award will be presented to current college students, but high school seniors who will be attending school in the fall semester of 2021 are also welcome to apply.

PAST SCHOLARSHIPS

Deo B. Colburn Education Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of one of the following school districts: AuSable Valley, Boquet Valley Central School District, Crown Point, Indian Lake, Keene, Lake Placid, Long Lake, Minera, Moriah, Newcomb, St. Regis Falls, Saranac, Saranac Lake, Schroon Lake, Ticonderoga, Tupper Lake or Willsboro or must reside in the Northeast portion of the Adirondack Park as defined in the Certificate of Incorporation. Students must attend an accredited college or trade or technical school on a full-time basis, taking at least 12 credit hours per semester.

Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award

The Zonta International District 2 Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award is given for outstanding community service. Academic achievement is not a factor in selecting a winner. Applicants must be a young woman in her junior or senior year of high school. A Book Award and a check for $250 will be presented to the winning candidate by the Zonta Club of the Adirondacks in the spring of this year. The local winner's application is then sent on to the Zonta International District 2 Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award committee to be considered for the $500 District Award which is announced in June of each year.

Applications must BE RECEIVED not later than March 24, 2021.

The Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award application may be found on the Zonta District website, www.zontadistrict2.org, under the District Awards tab.

The Young Woman in Public Affairs Award

The Young Woman in Public Affairs award will go to a young woman aged 16-19 who is committed to volunteerism and experienced in leadership. The Zonta Club of the Adirondacks’ winner for this category will also receive a Book Award, as well as check for $250 in the spring. The winner of the local club award will automatically be nominated as one of approximately 20 young women eligible to win the $1000 award at the district level later in 2021. The district award winner then advances in eligibility to possibly be one of TEN Zonta International scholarship winners who is awarded a $4000 scholarship.

Hudson Mohawk AHEC Health Career Scholarship 2021

The Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center, known as Hudson Mohawk AHEC, will be awarding scholarships of $500 each to high school seniors and individuals newly entering an approved healthcare related certificate or degree program at a local community college, university or training entity within New York State. Applicants must reside within or be a graduating senior from a high school within the Hudson Mohawk AHEC service region, which includes: Albany, Essex, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties. Winners will be chosen from the applicants who have submitted a completed application with all necessary paperwork in its entirety by the posted deadline of: 12:00pm, on Friday, March 19, 2021. Please see Ms. Reynolds for an application.

Student Movement Against Cancer (SMAC) - Cancer Fighter Scholarship

SMAC is proud to announce that we will be awarding the Cancer Fighter Scholarship to ten graduating high school seniors who have been leaders in the fight against cancer. The Cancer Fighter Scholarship will be $1000 for each scholarship winner.

You must be a graduating senior from a public or private high school planning to attend a post-high school institution (two or four year college, vocational or technical school) within the United States in the fall of 2021. We believe that "cancer fighters" can come in a number of forms.  Some have battled cancer themselves. Some help a loved one or friend through their own fight.  Some have been leaders in their school and community in the fight against cancer.

EGIA Scholarship for HVAC

Hagan Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship designed to help high-achieving students from small towns and rural areas graduate college debt-free. Recipients must: a) graduate from a public high school located in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents, or b) graduate from a remote rural school located in a county having more than 50,000 residents. Hagan Scholars from 43 states are currently enrolled at 358 colleges and universities.
