Dear Parents and Grandparents,
This week we have SAT’s Monday-Wednesday, and therefore it is important that your child be at school all three days. They need to be ontime to class because SAT’s will start in the morning until lunch. Encourage them to do their best. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep, has a good breakfast, and brings a nutritious morning snack. A rested body filled with nutritious food equals an alert student! Please have your child at school a few minutes early to avoid being tardy. Tardy students will need to wait in the school office as they are not allowed to enter the classroom once testing begins. If they miss testing, they will need to make it up after school.
Tuesday & Thursday - Bring Instruments
Music - Preparing “Pomp and Circumstance” for Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 31st; this event is a mandatory participation and will be for a grade.
Field Day - Hot dogs will be provided for the children. Please send chips and a drink (one soda will be allowed this time only) in your child’s lunch box that day. Each student will also need to bring a small (child size) sand pail (please, no hardware store buckets or large pails) and a beach towel. The Dollar Tree is a good place to find sand pails. Children should wear a t-shirt (no tank tops or spaghetti straps), shorts or pants and tennis shoes (no sandals, flip flops, crocs or water shoes). For precaution, send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Your child will be out in the sun most of the morning, please apply sunscreen that morning before your child comes to school. Mr. Ortiz will need lots of volunteers. Please contact him directly if you are able to help - email@example.com.
REDWOOD ALLIANCE WEEK next week!!! Your child will be at Redwood Alliance from Tuesday-Friday, April 24-27th. Please make sure your child is on time to school Tuesday and pick your child up at the school Friday. We should come in about 4:00 but if we are running late, I will call you, if your child isn’t staying for daycare. You can also reach me at 916-208-5643 during our ride there and back. Redwood Alliance does not have reception for most cell phones, so you will need to call the camp directly and leave them a message if you need to get information to myself or to your child. Please call 707-874-2509 to reach the camp.
Please help your students pack their belongings. Make sure they have everything that they need and not things they don’t need. They will also need a sleeping bag and pillow. Please no bulky blankets for we will not have room and it will not be terribly cold. Follow the “what to bring” guidelines when packing. They will enjoy this time with their friends learning about nature and will become a little more independent through this experience.
Here is the list of items to bring (info packets go home today):
PLEASE ONLY ALLOW ONE BACKPACK or small duffle bag/carry on bag FULL OF ITEMS PER STUDENT! We don’t have room in our vehicles to take large bags or suitcases. Thanks!
Do not bring MP3 players, video games or cell phones (for kids) to the camp. They may be taken on the trip to be used in the car only. I will collect what was brought or it may be kept in the cars. Food and snacks will also not be allowed in the cabins and will be confiscated after we arrive.
Remember that your child will need to pack a sack lunch, water and a snack for the first day trip out there. It needs to be in a disposable bag. The water should be a normal reusable bottle that they take to school for refills. All students and parents need to be in our classroom at 8:00 to talk about the trip briefly before we go. We will be leaving promptly at 8:30 am Tuesday. We will caravan to the Alliance after that.
We will have access to a vending machines and a store if you want to send cash to purchase something. If they would like to make a call, we have access to payphones during free time, so send quarters with your child. They make only one call per day. If you would like them to buy a souvenir then send some cash with your child. They can give it to me if they are worried about losing their money.
God bless and pray for us as we drive and attend SCIENCE CAMP!!!!!!!!
Volunteers: Please make sure that you check your emails and spam folders for the background checks. I also need everyone who is driving to provide me a copy of their drivers license and insurance. I need these completed before Tuesday of this week.
