2025-26 SSNL Tech Standard Changes, Additions, and Supporting Actions
(see Sport Technical Standards for detailed sport changes) 

• Reclassification will continue to be available for 2025-26 with the following changes:

• Downward movement in Classification will now be approved or denied by the applicant schools Regional Director. That decision will be  shared with the VP Varsity who will make the final decision through consultation with the Varsity Council. Teams looking to move down in their classification will forfeit the opportunity to compete in provincials in a lower classification
• The Win Forward Policy has been Suspended and 2024-25 Provincial Winning Teams will not Win Forward. They can choose to move ahead with Reclassification and can complete the reclassification form to indicate their intention to play up.

• Outdoor soccer will return to a 2A-3A-4A classification

• Indoor Soccer has added a 2A Classification for Schools with a Varsity Population of 40 students or less.
• All teams must submit team registrations on assigned registration dates. The new forms are fillable PDF’s so please download the form and share with your coaching/ teaching staff. All forms should be shared with the Varsity Coordinator and tournament convenor for all events.
• TEAM UNIFORMS: Schools must wear the uniform of the school they are representing, joint school teams should wear the uniform of one of the two schools declared in the joint team application.

The following sport specific changes rule changes will be included in the Technical Standards for the 25-26 school year:

Table Tennis

• When a first place team from a qualifier chooses not to attend the provincials, the second place team will be invited to register and compete at Provincials without applying for a wild card.

Outdoor Soccer

• SSNL is reverting back to the 2A-3A-4A classifications for Boys & Girls Outdoor Soccer
• If at any point after the first half, there is a goal difference of 5 or more goals, the game will end.

Indoor Soccer

• 2025-26 will introduce a 2A classification designed to allow smaller population schools the opportunity to compete with other schools with a varsity population of 40 students or less. Schools may apply to move down following the reclassification process on or before declaration day on October 1st.
• If the Score is within a 3 goal spread, the last minute of play in each half will be stop time.
• If at any point after the first half, there is a goal difference of 7 or more goals, the game will end.
