Event Notes
Phase 1
Zoomed In
- We witnessed a Deathless Elite leader (Shadra-Khan II) arrive to much fanfare. The locals seemed mildly negatively disposed toward Hnenhnene, who failed to spot familiar faces.
- We met a warmind serpent-bot (K8) with whom we have become good acquaintances. K8 just wanted to dance, initially, but we were able to defuse some suspicions on the part of security forces who were not keen on the dancing warmind.
- We met a representative of the Syndicate of the Lost (Sister Sojourn), who has agreed on behalf of her faction to undertake mutually beneficial trade and claimed treaties on Huginn & the Colony in so doing.
- We encountered K8 engaged with security forces, including two Deathless Elite officers (Shock & Awe). We used flawless misdirection to resolve the matter without further destruction, and secure a meeting with Shadra-Khan II in the process. A container full of Jaime was removed from K8 and confiscated by the Elites. Reactivating K8 proceeded well.
- We learned about gizzard stones.
- We attended the meeting. Jaime was released after a minimum of genomic prodding. Future mutually advantageous interactions with the Deathless Elite were established as a shared desire and ongoing project; relations stand, to all appearances, good.
- We met a traveller from an antique land, who said, "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, and wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, tell that its sculptor well those passions read which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, the hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; and on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, the lone and level sands stretch far away."
Zoomed Out!
- Danger identified: Enormous worms that erupt from the ground, to eat travelers.
- The Colony made available its secure tunnel networks to the Huginns offset this, including a fortified hub: the Project Huginn Alliance Safe Tunnel (PHAST).
- Other hazards: Wandering hunter-killer war machines, airgrav hunters poaching genetic specimens, shellhawks and brigands.
- The Carsonites responded to Jaime’s Deathless Elite conscription by using him as a mole and securing a new high-level diplomatic meeting.
- The Starlight Group succeeded in securing useful data by studying K8, though declined to dismantle the robit.
- The Colony began to undertake Subterfuge, infiltrating the Syndicate with behavior-tweaking infections that eroded its leadership and increased its desire to acquire medicine. Though not blatant, this action did leave behind a clue as to whom was responsible that someone else may piece together.
- An envoy was dispatched to meet with the Deathless Elite.
- Diederik and Jaime were joined by Ehleleahse and Jo to attend the summit at the Last Redoubt.
- We met LCpl "Grim Casino" and Zherva-Ubastet III of the Deathless Elite, who raised the concern about poachers hunting genetic specimens from the surrounding area.
- The Elite were convinced to refrain from carpet-bombing until their new allies attempt to defuse the situation.
- Scouting by the Huginns and infiltration by the Colony were able to pinpoint a probable headquarters for these poachers, and further degrade their defenses.
- The Carsonites were able to forge stronger bonds and a private executive conference with the Deathless Elite.
- The Starlight Group established a protectorate in the slum-hive further north along the coast, at the mouth of the river flowing from Lake Glenn.
- The Huginns failed to plant evidence that the Deathless Elite had a part in the poaching.
- The player group will next attempt to deal more directly with the poachers.
- And deal they did, friends! Assaulting a vast grav-lev enabled facility resembling a floating tower, the squad saw to it that many poachers were brutally mashed.
- A mysterious technician, more physically adept than it had seemed, also possessed a curious weapon, now in the possession of the Colony, after Ehleleahse ripped it (and likely the man’s very arm) from his possession.
- Jaime took possession of troves of genetic data from the database of the crashing facility.
- Through combined efforts, none of the heroes perished, and three test subjects were rescued:
- A strange tree-infused man
- A harpy-like bird/human hybrid
- A faun-like goat/human hybrid
