4-H Rocketry

Information packet

This booklet is prepared to help the 4-H members and leaders become familiar with the 4-H Rocketry.

Keep this page with your project material and refer to the guidelines when any questions arise concerning Rocketry for Home Arts.

Members should select articles to do within their ability and will be judged on the neatness, function, and finishing of the exhibit. All articles must be ready for display.

TO PARTICIPATE:

  1. The participant must be enrolled in 4-H.
  2. Members must submit a commentary on how the item was made on a 3x5 card to be displayed with the entry.
  3. If a member is entering an item that is precut or pre-stamped, he/she should attach a note stating which portion of the item he/she personally completed.
  4. The item exhibited must have been completed in the current project year.
  5. Crafted projects include model rockets built from kits or hand crafted from model rocket materials such as balsa wood, plastic, or cardboard.  The exhibit card needs to specify what portion of the items was crafted from kits and which was handcrafted.
  6. Items which have been previously launched may be exhibited and the number of launches should be indicated on the exhibit card.

The HAD participation is a static display and judging. For safety reasons, the solid rocket fuel type rockets displayed will not be launched at HAD and cannot include unused solid rocket engines (used / spent rocket engines are ok since rocket fuel is not present).
