Title: Youth Pastor
Position: Full Time
Accountable to: Campus Pastor and Elder Board
Responsible for: Youth Ministry (Middle School and High School)
OUR VISION:
Family Church exists to glorify God as we win souls with the gospel of Christ and make disciples of Him. It is expected the youth pastor will operate the youth ministry in alignment with the Family Church Statement of Beliefs.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and develop all aspects of the Youth Ministry included but not limited to:
- Facilitate the spiritual growth and development of students grades 6 through 12. This includes preparing and preaching Wednesday night messages, utilizing both practical and creative means to connect with students throughout the week and periodic special events (i.e., camps, retreats, service projects and fellowship events) as well as oversee volunteer-led small groups.
- Provide overall theological direction in accordance with the beliefs of Family Church.
- Recruit/develop/train all volunteers, adults, and student leaders in various youth ministry roles.
- Participate in regular weekend services and any other services deemed necessary by the campus pastor.
- Build a relational ministry based on spending time with youth at their school, athletic events, and extracurricular activities.
- Responsible for upkeep of student facilities. Also responsible for reporting building and equipment issues to the Facility Upkeep Manager.
- Collaborate with campus children’s ministry leaders as well as other campus youth leaders.
- Carry out other pastoral duties as required by the campus pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A personal, active, discerning, and maturing faith in Jesus Christ.
- A strong knowledge of and commitment to teach the Bible in accordance with the beliefs of Family Church as described in our Statement of Faith.
- A genuine love for people and the ability to shepherd, lead, teach, counsel, and engage in a gospel-centered manner.
- Ability to relate to adults (especially parents and other staff) as well as students, both inside and outside the ministry.
- Proven leadership skills: an ability to recruit and lead a volunteer leadership team consisting of both youth and adults.
- Ability to plan and execute youth related ministry events, retreats, and other student-centered events.
- Must possess a humble and teachable heart and is confident in God’s Word and his calling. If married, his wife is supportive of the calling to ministry.
- Maintain a current knowledge of youth culture.
- Self-starter with the desire and ability to lead, develop and work as part of a team.
- Great organizational skills, time management and communications skills.
- Submissive to authority; models servant leadership.
- Technologically proficient.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Prior youth pastor experience (MINIMUM 5 years) is highly preferred.
