PD Opportunity - MTSS

Last year we set Inclusion as one of our main focus areas.  This year multiple groups have met to help define what Inclusion will look like and what supports will be in place for students for academics and behavior / social & emotional needs.  We are still in the planning phase and would love to share some introductory information and get your feedback.  Please see below for 5 different options for training opportunities this week with Kim Bane.

Multi Tiered Systems of Support Training

*Thursday -8:30-9:50, 10:30-11:50, or 4-5pm and

*Friday 2:10-3:30.

We will be sharing out our Inclusive Practice statement with the whole school soon and will share more about student support systems in April.

If you would like to attend one of the trainings above please email Bethany Blevins at bblevins@aes.ac.in by Tuesday.

SERVICE LEARNING DAY

March 28 is a full day of service learning, there will be no regularly scheduled classes. Please be aware that there are no 1-8 period days so you will need to plan around this. Teams will be communicating more information about this day.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES March 13-15

Please Melissa or Anthea know this week if you will not be here during conferences this semester. Lalit will be sending the link to parents and it helps to avoid confusion and frustration if your name is removed from the sign-up link.

ATTENDANCE

Please take accurate attendance as it helps us to track and follow up with students who are having issues. If you are having an issue with a student coming to class on time please email the parents and loop in the counselors or one of the administrators.

IMPORTANT: Planning for Professional Learning

To help us in the MS office ensure that the learning continues while you are away for professional learning please submit your leave requests and contact Pooja as soon as possible.

Ask your colleagues!

Ask Tracy about her Mixed Media class. They joined the kids from BBA on Friday to do a makerspace project.

Ask Kimberlyn about their experience in the Makerspace. They made pinhole cameras in Photography class. Notice for making the best shutter design and the most decorative camera.

Ask Jonathan about the guitar room. He has been working with some students and creating a space on the third floor.

Ask Robb about Fort Frenzy day! He is busy doing lots of planning for this very fun event The event will also include students making a cardboard fort!! It’s going to be a great community building day.

PRINCIPAL:

What a great Friday with so many opportunities on campus with MESAC, HOPE foundation guests and Bachpan Bachao Andolan (rescued child laborers) working with grade 8 students. Thanks to all the staff who stepped up to fill gaps while some were out at these events, PD or sick. This week we will have Kim, Jason and Paula continuing the inclusive practices journey with us. It’s also a time of year when more people are out ill. All this means that we have limited subs for the number of classes that need covering. Please know that Melissa and Pooja are working to get the best cover teachers in place while the regular teacher is out. If you can avoid an absence in the next week please do. If you are sick please take the time you need to get well.
