IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION
In April and May,, the Grossmont Union High School District will be participating in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the California Science Test (CAST). In order to accommodate the two-hour tests, El Capitan will be following a modified testing schedule on four days. Please see schedule below.
Students in grade 9 and 10 will not be testing and will start at the late start time for period 1 or 2.
Students in grade 11 will take the statewide Smarter Balanced test. These online tests measure students’ progress in English language arts/literacy and mathematics. The test is designed to measure critical thinking with questions that ask students to demonstrate their research, writing, and problem solving skills. All juniors will test on April 25 & 26 and May 3 & 4 from 7:10 - 9:10 in assigned classrooms. The EAP (Early Assessment Program) is part of the CAASPP and will let students know how well prepared they are for college-level work in English and math. See how taking the CAASPP can benefit you and possibly exempt you from taking college placement tests. Click here for more information.
Students in grade 12 will take the CAST (California Science Test), a statewide online test to assess students’ achievement of the Next Generation Science Standards. Seniors (last name A-L) will test on April 25, and seniors (last name M-Z) on April 26 from 7:10 - 9:10 in assigned classrooms. For more information on the CAST and to view a video, click here.
