Staff Uniform Policy

The Following Dress Code Will Apply to All Staff:

The Uniform code applies to all staff members. However, members of the Management and Education Team (not Unit Heads) may wear smart business dress when attending professional meetings. School Polo Shirts should be brought in, or dark plain tops can be worn during the day when working with pupils.

Please remember that prospective parents and other visitors are often in School and it is essential that our appearance is smart and professional at all times. It is particularly important that members of staff working with pupils comply with the school dress code to ensure their own safety.

• No bright colours or patterns on any item of clothing, including shoes, outdoor coats and hats

• School navy polo shirt is to be worn at all times (supplied by the School) but in cold weather a black/navy long sleeved t-shirt or thermal top may also be worn underneath  In hot weather, at the discretion of the Senior Leadership Team, black or navy sleeveless tops (no spaghetti or fashion straps) may be worn.

• Plain dark smart jeans or trousers are to be worn:

• no holes or rips;

• not faded;

• no joggers with gathered ankles. Joggers should be dark and plain with no branding or panels;

• no leggings;

• no low slung trousers;

• no light colours or patterns

• In hot weather, at the discretion of the Senior Leadership Team, dark smart city shorts (i.e. knee length or longer) may be worn.

• A uniform fleece will be supplied but wearing is optional. Additional fleeces may be purchased or a plain navy fleece used.

• No hoodies, jackets or jumpers with hoods are to be worn as these can be pulled from behind.

• No scarves or clothes with toggles or laces that can be pulled are to be worn as these can be pulled.

• Sensible flat outdoor non-slip shoes to be worn :

• no heels/wedges

• no open toe shoes, sandals or flip flops as they are a tripping/slipping hazard.

• We suggest shoes have a good grip as some shoes (eg. converse) can prove to be slippy on certain surfaces around the School.

• Staff with long hair are to ensure that it is tied up at all times to avoid hair pulling.

• Jewellery should not be worn. Any jewellery is worn at the wearer's own risk.

• Nails should be short and neutral in colour – long/pointed nails are a potential scratch/injury risk and bright colours can be distracting to pupils. Acrylic nails can create potential infection risk as bacteria can collect under the acrylic.

• No perfumes or strong deodorants as these can be aversive to pupils.

Staff have a duty to present themselves for work and to comply with all policies.

Failure to comply with the Uniform Policy may result in a staff member being sent home to change.  

They will not be paid for time off to go home and a deduction will be made from their salary accordingly.
