Sing the ABC song! The Alphabet Song | Phonics Song for Kids | Kindergarten Alphabet song | Jack Hartmann

Name the shapes of your food at each meal and snack time.

Talk with your child about things you're looking forward to this week. What is your child looking forward to?

Move like animals: frog-jump, crab-walk, turtle-crawl, snake-slither.

Draw a picture of your family! Write your name on your picture. For added challenge, write the names of each family member!

Put a toy (or stuffed animal) under your arm, above your head, around your waist, below your foot.

Practice making happy and sad faces with your child. See if your child can guess what feeling you’re showing (is this a happy face, sad?)

Sing your favorite nursery rhymes (like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Humpty Dumpty, Baa Baa Black Sheep)! Add hand motions if you know them.

On a sheet of paper, write out the alphabet. Your child may be able to help! While singing the ABC song, touch each letter as you sing.

Counting

Count how many sips it takes to drink a cup of water.

Play “Simon Says”

For Example: ‘Simon Says, touch your head’

Only complete the task if “Simon Says”

Hide an item inside a sock. No peeking, let your child touch the object, describe, and guess the item.

For example: (ball) soft, round, hard, pointy

Listen to “The Book with No Pictures” and retell the story.  Or use any book that you have at home! Mrs. Everds reads The Book With No Pictures

Collect nature items outside.  Make a pattern with them.

For example:

rock, leaf, rock, leaf, rock leaf, and so on.

Talk out loud. Problem solve with your child “Oh no, a sibling (or friend) took your favorite toy. What should we do?”

Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story from yesterday. Have a grownup write a sentence or two to describe the story.

Discuss the job of an author & illustrator as you listen to this author/illustrator read his famous book.

Eric Carle reads The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Practice writing some numbers. Use sidewalk chalk or paper.

Think about your week and discuss your favorite part.

Create a family book (with 3 pages) of your family’s favorite activities during a typical day. Label the contributing authors & illustrators!
