Dear Greenburgh Community:

For the third year, Greenburgh CSD is offering our high school seniors the opportunity to earn the NY State Seal of Biliteracy.  This is a rigorous process requiring students to demonstrate proficiency in both English and another language through coursework, assessments, or a combination thereof. We are very proud to have approximately 30 students challenging the NYSSB in multiple languages: Spanish, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Portuguese.

As in previous years, we have greatly benefited from having members of the community participate on the panels that evaluate our scholars' presentations and culminating projects, as students are required to be able to speak conversationally about a chosen topic with other fluent speakers. We are looking for your participation again this year. Students will present these final projects on April 22, 2025 (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.) in a setting similar to a science fair. If you are confidently conversationally fluent in any of the listed languages and would like to assist with interviewing students and rating their performance, please fill out this volunteer form by the deadline of Friday, April 11, 2025. Volunteers will receive support/training on conducting the interviews/evaluations and completing the required rubric. Also, a final reminder that we are asking students and caregivers to give us feedback about the meals available at our schools. Please complete the School Food Survey, which is open to all grades. Your honest and constructive feedback will help us serve up even tastier and healthier meals. The survey will be live through the start of Spring Break on Friday, April 11.

Estimada Comunidad de Greenburgh:

Por tercer año consecutivo, el Distrito Escolar Central de Greenburgh (CSD) ofrece a nuestros estudiantes de último año la oportunidad de obtener el Sello de Bilingüismo del Estado de Nueva York (NYSSB). Este es un proceso riguroso que requiere que los estudiantes demuestren su dominio del inglés y de otro idioma mediante cursos, evaluaciones o una combinación de ambos. Nos enorgullece contar con aproximadamente 30 estudiantes que presentan el NYSSB en varios idiomas: español, criollo haitiano, japonés, coreano, mandarín y portugués.

Como en años anteriores, nos ha beneficiado enormemente la participación de miembros de la comunidad en los paneles que evalúan las presentaciones y los proyectos finales de nuestros estudiantes, ya que se requiere que los estudiantes puedan hablar con fluidez sobre un tema seleccionado con otros hablantes que también lo hablen. Esperamos su participación nuevamente este año. Los estudiantes presentarán sus proyectos finales el 22 de abril de 2025 (de 8:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m.) en un entorno similar a una feria de ciencias. Si usted domina con fluidez cualquiera de los idiomas mencionados y desea ayudar a entrevistar a los estudiantes y evaluar su desempeño, complete este formulario de voluntariado antes del viernes 11 de abril de 2025. Los voluntarios recibirán apoyo y capacitación para realizar las entrevistas y evaluaciones, así como para completar la rúbrica requerida. Además, un último recordatorio: les pedimos a los estudiantes y cuidadores que nos den su opinión sobre las comidas disponibles en nuestras escuelas. Por favor, completen la Encuesta de Alimentación Escolar, abierta a todos los grados. Sus comentarios honestos y constructivos nos ayudarán a ofrecer comidas aún más sabrosas y saludables. La encuesta estará disponible hasta el inicio de las vacaciones de primavera, el viernes 11 de abril.
