EXTERNAL JOB POSTING - Teacher at Eagles Academy Project-Based Charter (Gr. 6-12)

Position Summary

Full time, project-based learning teacher at Eagles Academy, for grades 6-12. This is a highly rewarding, yet incredibly demanding teaching position. Teacher will be one of at least two in the growing project-based, teacher-led charter school. Eagles Academy is one of the great educational options in Solon Springs where students learn through interdisciplinary projects, rooted in our community so that they can step out into our world as great, happy humans.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Advising independent student projects, progress, and math instruction through the ALEKS program
  • Coordinating daily, extended-day and after-school activities, as well as school events
  • Developing long-term relationships with advisory students as well as whole school population
  • Leading field experiences- in the field and community
  • Developing school curriculum, lessons, and projects in the classroom, outside, and in the community
  • Maintaining best teaching practices through professional development
  • Communicating with school staff, co-teachers, and principal  
  • Willingness to commit 3 years of teaching, subject to major life changes, for full augmentation of Charter School

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will understand and support hands-on education and project-based learning. Ideal candidate is a motivated, energetic professional who sees each student as an individual with potential, is familiar with area connections, is open to new experiences, and can challenge students.

Candidate should:

  • Develop and facilitate project-based learning models and methods that integrate all curricular areas.
  • Work with a variety of educational and community partners for student learning.
  • Develop and integrate STEM, career readiness, environmental, and community based education content into projects.
  • Understand and manage individualized instruction utilizing projects and Personal Learning Plans.
  • Integrate technology on a daily basis, including Google Classroom, web pages, video conferencing, wikis, blogs, GPS, digital science probes, robotics and others
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a commercial bus license for Charter School trips (will help obtain)

Requirements

The teacher will work with the co-teachers over the summer to develop projects and curriculum for the following school year.

The position requires:

  • Current DPI Licensure in Early Adolescence through Adolescence (EA-A)
  • An ability to obtain State and DNR licenses (fishing, wild ricing, etc.)
  • 12-month employment with flexible summer hours
