Week beginning 1/25/21

6th Grade

Update

Value of the Month of January = Determination

Late work due by  this Wed, 1/27.  All late work for the first half of the 3rd marking period is due by January 27th.  Work received after this date will remain a 50% in the gradebook.  Report cards are released Feb 5th.

Work Checklists.  Most teachers have a checklist of past and present work due.  We have linked the checklists to the teacher/subject names in the Week at a Glance table below.  This way all checklists are in one location for you.

GNN Spring logo contest ends 2/2.  Garrison News Network is holding a contest  for a spring logo.  Please see the attachment for further detail and contact Ms. Ali with any questions.

10 Terrific Tuesdays.  We are beginning a countdown to Spring Break with Ten Terrific Tuesdays! Join us in wearing your favorite hat this Tuesday January 26. See the chart  on the last page of this newsletter for more exciting days!

PTA will be sponsoring Family Game Night on Feb 4th.  Parents, you can sign up to participate on Ms. Parks’ SMORE.

Refugee by Alan Gratz has started! Please ensure your child has a copy of the book.  Please email me with any further questions ashley.powell@sccpss.com.  A Youtube recording has been provided for audio on ItsLearning under “Resources” in green.

Following Directions.  Please talk to your student about following their  teachers’ directions.  Many times students are instructed to do an activity (log in and complete this quiz), spend 15 minutes working on this specific assignment, etc and some students choose to not follow the direction at the time it is given.  When this happens, students struggle to manage their time and miss due dates.  This pattern has been clearly observed with students who consistently turn in work late.  The teachers have the work planned out, we are asking students to follow this plan.
