Pivotal Moments in Japanese ODA: circa 1950s to 2010s

The Asia Development Institute(ADI) and the Seoul National University Asia Center co-hosted a seminar under the theme "Final moments of Japan's ODA: From 1950s to 2010s." At the seminar, Professor Sato Jin of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia at Tokyo University introduced the history and status of ODA in Japan. At the seminar, the participants interested in international development cooperation from the GSPA and other organizations were able to understand the history of Japanese ODA which explain what context make Japan to start ODA and how the country became a major country in a global historical context, and also learn challenges and tasks for the next phase. In addition, various questions from participants showed that they were considering the direction of Korea's ODA based on the understanding of the Japanese ODA, and it was a fruitful opportunity to share opinions among participants.
