Instructions

1. It is recommended to access Canvas from Chrome Browser.

1. Click here to get Chrome Browser for Windows or Mac

2. Launch Google Chrome
3. Add a new Profile to Google Chrome

1. In Chrome browser, at the top right, click Profile "".
2. Click Manage people OR Click Add person.
3. Click “Sign In”
4. Enter the student’s email address. (example firstname.lastname@student.district140.org)
5. Enter the Student’s Password
6. You should get a message saying “Welcome to your new profile”

1. And This account is managed by student.district140.org

7. Turn on Sync, “Yes”
8. You can choose a color to distinguish between your student and personal account.

4. Now you can go to www.district140.org
5. Hover over students
6. Click “Student Canvas Login”

Note: You can switch between multiple accounts by going to the Profile picture Icon in the upper right corner. When you click the icon, it will show the list of accounts that have previously been logged in. You can add others and remove other accounts as well.

Error Message (Any Browser)

If you get the 403 error message, “app_not_configured_for_user” message, that means your computer is trying to use a personal account to access Canvas.

Going to Gmail.com and clicking the profile picture in the upper right corner will show which google account is being used by default. You may need to switch accounts to get the correct account for Canvas.

In this Example, my login will NOT work as my “Gmail.com” account is the default.

Change Default Gmail Account

1. Choose your default account
2. Go to your Gmail inbox.
3. Click on your profile image at the top right of your inbox.
4. Sign out of your account. ...
5. Back in Gmail.com, click Sign in and choose your preferred default account.

1. In this case, it will be the student email address.

6. Enter the student's password.
7. Click Next.
8. Now your student email should be the default account.
